So it won't conflict with the new film saga. Which is good cause there's so much more they can do. The Federation is still a middle of the road power, with the Klingon's, Romulan's and the Borg on the back foot now. There's real changes going to happen, and of course new tecnologys. Oh god im such a geek  Would also like to see how holographic rights progressed to. |

Making it in Blu-ray means goign back to the dailies, retransfering them to high definition video, they redoing the editing, color timign and possibly special effects, depending on the technique used. Next generation kept good records, so they know exactly the take to use and the time-codes for what frames to grab and the effects were shot on film, so they just need to be recomposited. For a lot of shows, the film versions may not exist anymore or record keeping was a lot thinner, which means a lot more work to find the right material to recreate the show. We'll probably see plenty of popular shows from this era on Blu-ray (Friends and Seinfeld are rumored to be in the works), but lots of shows will never make it. I'm hopeful about Deep Space 9 and Voyager. They were less popular than Next Generation and would be more expensive to do because they both used CGI effects, which would need to be completely redone, but they were fairly popular. |
