I actually didn't use mismatched numbers at all. I used the numbers that were available. Paramount said 190,000 copies sold. Published reports (that Disney has not disputed) put POTC at 160,000 copies and 130,00 or whatever it was for Spider-Man 3. I'm simply using the numbers that were released by the studios, or were not disputed by the studios. That's all. It's not that hard to understand. And quite honestly this does belong in BR v. HD DVD because it was the claim that POTC is the number one selling HD disc of the year.

As Unicus said, maybe if you were to go back and read the discussion leading up to where you jumped in you would understand that. If not, I'm not arguing about it. It seems as if nobody else is having a hard time following this...

OK, so based on the sales for the SD release of Bourne, I'm going to say that the HD release sold right around 122,580 copies...Which falls in line with an approximate ratio of 2% for HD releases. If that holds up then I think it will further strengthen my argument that the 190,000 units of Transformers is possible.

Universal has announced a March arrival for their latest HD DVD catalog release, the classic Chevy Chase comedy 'Fletch.'

One of Chase's most memorable big-screen adventures, 'Fletch' grossed nearly $100 million worldwide back in 1985, and proved popular enough to spawn a sequel in 1989's 'Fletch Lives.' Universal has announced a HD DVD release date of March 11 for 'Fletch' (no sign of 'Fletch Lives,' however).

Tech specs for 'Fletch' include 1080p/VC-1 video, and Dolby TrueHD 5.1 Surround and Dolby Digital-Plus 5.1 Surround options.

Extras will mirror the recently-released DVD version, including three featurettes ("Just Charge It to the Underhills: Making and Remembering Fletch," "From John Cocktoastin' to Harry S. Truman: The Disguises," "Favorite Fletch Moments") and the film's original theatrical trailer.

Suggest retail for the HD DVD is $29.98.

115,000 was a number that was available, therefore I call BS.  I'm about done with this matter.

Don't you call BS on everything? Be done with it then, you think I care?

Be smart enough to understand the context of the argument I was making. Go back and READ. You are capable of this, are you not?

Well Champ I was going to say that it looks like what HD DVD has been doing, which you should be really happy with. If you're interested in that type of stuff. It's about time Blu-ray can utilize this type of technology. Makes me think I MAY want to wait for at least a profile 1.1 player after all. I think Mark said it a few pages back that at least I'll know it's there, even if I don't use it.

I'm happy to see that if your player is not 1.1, the extra stuff doesn't show in the menu. It woulda sucked if you saw it and got an error message! Or, it just didn't do anything.

Yeah, I have the PS3. But, would have felt bad for all those that bought first gen players if they had seen options in the menu that wouldn't work for them. Most of them won't even know there's something misssing, that's a good thing.

Ok, I value your opinion so let me ask you (Champ) something. Do you think there's going to be any surge in new stand alone sales for BR players once 1.1 releases start popping up with an amount of regularity? How do you think the SA (can't count the PS3 here for obvious reasons, it's upgradeable) owners will react to all of this, do you see them upgrading players to take advantage of the new features?

I think when the 1.1 players become more mainstream, the price will drop on the 1.0 players. This will result in more sales of the 1.0 players to the non-enthusiast market. I see 1.1 players selling at the same price the 1.0 players are at now, and this may result in the enthusiasts (early adopters) getting a second player that is 1.1 capable.

Also, seeing that 92% of the Blu-ray player market share belongs to Sony and Samsung, the other companies are going to have to droo prices to actually make some kind of money on sales. This will also result in prices falling. We're actually seeing some of it now.

If you told me two months ago, you'd be able to pick up a BR player for $270, I probably wouldn't have believed it. 1.1 will only make the prices go lower.

Of course, if Universal and / or Warner went Blu exclusive, that would probably have an effect on BR player sales as well. Of course, the same could be said if Warner went Red.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but won't that depend on the title?  I would imaging this one was coded to not display the extra options, but that doesn't mean they all will be (although I would expect most of them to work like this).  Or am I missing something?

I agree with twojayz.  The screenshots I saw look like what we've had on HD DVD for a while now.  Hopefully we'll start to see some truly unique content down the line (on both sides).  My guess is they've barely scratched the surface at this point.  The community viewing thing on Harry Potter is extremely cool, although I'm not sure I'd ever use it myself.  But the reports I've read from those who have seem to be genuine amazement.  People who thought it would be stupid are loving it.
