| Posted: | | | | Definitely IV, V, VI then I, II, III for me.
Even though the newer trilogy is technically the story beginning of the saga, they'll always seem like an inferior afterthought to the original trilogy. | | | Corey |

| Posted: | | | | I watch them IV, V, VI. I think I've only watched I, II, III once or twice each. I hate that Lucas won't leave the originals alone as well...I think that the new tech does not mesh well with the old tech and looks weird. You can tell what isn't original which is why I'm glad I have the theatrical versions so I can watch them that way! My 4 year-old nephew can quote all 6 movies by heart. He likes all the bad guys and can have deep, insightful conversations about them, their weapons and their actions. However, he's still young enough not to get that actors can be more than one character. He was amazed when I told him Harrison Ford also played Indiana Jones. It's the next movie series I'm going to start him on one of these days. I think he'll like the bugs/snakes that always show up. | | | Lori |

| Posted: | | | | Before you show him any of the Indiana Jones movies, show him American Grafitti... Bob Falfa is a nice contrast to everything else Harrison Ford had done. | | | If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.

Quote: I'd watch Sagas in chronological order. That's one of your usual null answers given the fact that SW has two different chronological orders. You are more clever than you look. I'd begin with Star Wars, 1977 theatrical version, then the film's 20th anniversary edition from 1997, then the DVD release from 2004, then the 2011 B-rD release, then the 3D conversion. I'd continue with The Empire Strikes Back, 1980 theatrical version... | | | Don't confuse while the film is playing with when the film is played. [Ken Cole, DVD Profiler Architect] |

While I enjoyed American Graffiti, he is only 4, and I doubt that he would get or enjoy most of the movie. Not enough action for him! | | | Lori |

| Posted: | | | | When I was four, my two cousins would have to take me with them when they went to the Saturday matinee movies... you know, newsreel, two chapters of a serial a couple cartoons, two feature films... sometimes an appearance by a local TV personality... I saw "Blackboard Jungle" when I was four... I still remember the theater cranking up the volume for the opening credits, and then watching all the teenagers get out of their seats and dancing in the aisles to Bill Haley's "Rock Around the Clock." Show your four year old nephew "American Grafitti" if only for the amazing late '50's/early '60's music in nearly every scene. It might made a wonderful impression. | | | If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.

IV, V and VI are classics in my book. | | | We don't need stinkin' IMDB's errors, we make our own. Ineptocracy, You got to love it. | Posted: | | | | In my opinion, the best way is like this:
IV (A New Hope) V (The Empire Strikes Back) I (The Phantom Menace) II (Attack of the Clones) III (Revenge of the Sith) VI (Return of the Jedi)
The rationale being that you get to experience the evil Vader for two movies, and get the reveal that he's Luke's father, before you go on a 3-movie flashback to reveal his origin. And then, when you finish the whole thing off with Return of the Jedi, not only will Vader's redemption be more poignant, but you get to complete the experience with a happy ending instead of the downer that is Revenge of the Sith.
If I ever introduce the Star Wars movies to a new viewer (my nieces come to mind) this is definitely the way I'm doing it. | | | Tags, tags, bo bags, banana fana fo fags, mi my mo mags, TAGS! If I ever introduce the Star Wars movies to a new viewer (my nieces come to mind) this is definitely the way I'm doing it. I never thought of it but I find it a very good way. I see another advantage in watching A New Hope first and Return of the Jedi last, with four movies in-between: it will reduces the feeling of déjà vu about the Death Star part of the plot. |

| Posted: | | | | I think I'd watch them I thru VI myself. This way i would get the crap out of the way first. While VI is a drop in quality again, it's still leagues ahead of the prequels and as it was the first one I saw at the cinema I have better memories of it. There is ome spoilers I-III (at leat one major one), but I know those things already anyway.
Of ourselves, if I were to introduce someone to these films I'd start with IV to avoid those spoilers... | | | Achim [諾亞信; Ya-Shin//Nuo], a German in Taiwan. Registered: May 29, 2000 (at InterVocative) | | | Last edited: by nuoyaxin |

I will give kudos to the guy that created The Phantom Edit. Since I watched I, II, and III just for the sake of completeness (and hated a large majority of stuff about all of them) when I heard of this fan version removing specific things that irritated me the most, I decided it was at least worth a single viewing. If I was forced to watch the movies again, I'd much rather watch that again over the original version. | | | If at first you don't succeed, skydiving isn't for you.
