But until someone comes up with a simple and free piece of software that is able to easily and flawlessly determine a blu-ray's region coding, I'm afraid the situation is going to improve much. |

| Posted: | | | | When I build a profile I use Cyberlink PowerDVD to determine the region codes. For Blu-Ray there is a Blu-ray tab at the bottom of the screen, Movie Info then Disc Info. This seems pretty reliable.
My new computer came with version 10 and I haven't got around digging up the code & software for Ultra 12 & reinstalling it.
I agree with an undefined/undetermined default setting.
I thought the region code was a stupid idea in the first place, as I think most player have firmware and that can be changed. I know because I used to write the firmware for computers.
And I know you can not trust the retailer sites for any info.
Maybe about the only thing you can do is find DVD review site you can trust. | | | We don't need stinkin' IMDB's errors, we make our own. Ineptocracy, You got to love it.
