I see that you were not following Ascended's advice and buying into blu ray.  Shame Shame Shame...  What were you thinking??? Don't you know that HD DVD is dying.

Ask Ascended He'll tell you again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again.

Funai Confirms Blu-ray Support

Quote:
Low cost electronics manufacturer Funai (who make components for such low costs brands as Sylvania, Emerson, and Magnavox), has revealed in their latest financial report that they plan to launch a Blu-ray player. With 52% of the DVD player/recorder market in the US, it is very likely that a low cost Blu-ray player would be widely adopted, similar to the success Funai continues to have in the DVD market.

No specific player has been announced, nor any time frame, or manufacturer partnerships, but the inclusion of the bullet in their annual financial report alerts stockholders of their intention to move into the Blu-ray market. As a favorite manufacturer of Walmart (who awarded them a Billion Dollar Supplier Prize in 2006), these low cost players would most likely see wide distribution through the retail giant.

...And now for the Cou'de Gra in Europe

Blu-ray Destroying HD DVD In Europe

Impact of new console in market "significant"

PlayStation 3 gives Blu-ray disc sales a boost Image

21 May 2007 - News from the Blu-ray Disc Association suggests that the impact of PlayStation 3 on sales of Blu-ray Disc movies in North America and Japan after the launch of the console last November has been "significant".

Early market data sourced by the association indicates that a similar trend is developing in Western Europe.

Industry data for the period from 1 January until the end of April shows a change in market dynamics in the European HD software market.

Up until the PS3’s launch on 23 March, HD DVD was comfortably outselling Blu-ray discs. However, in the week after PS3 was launched in Europe, Blu-ray discs accounted for almost 87% of all HD disc sales.
In the period since 23 March, Blu-ray discs have consistently out sold HD DVD's rival product by a significant margin.

In the latest week that the figures report, Blu-ray discs outsold HD DVDs by a factor of more than three to one.

This means that despite the PS3 being available for only one month of this four-month period, Blu-ray software sales account for over 64% of the total volume since the start of the year.

For the good of the overall Blu-ray cause, it looks like these figures justify Sony's inclusion of a Blu-ray disc drive in their next-gen console, despite the delays this caused to the launch of the product and partly accounting for its high price.

I believe I predicted this as well...a little over 2 months ago.  HD DVD is losing everywhere in the world.  This basically begins the wrap up sequence for HD DVD.  Only two more major predictions to go...the last one being Universal going neutral around CES 2008.

Any more people want to buy an HD DVD player or a 1x HD DVD burner perhaps? Blah, blah, blah, blah[cue the sig line]

This is not Blu-ray or HD DVD news, AGAIN, but I guess I have to respond with this one then.

PS3 Sales Spike on Amazon.UK After Gamer's Day

PS3 sales spike on Amazon UK after Gamer's Day
Added on 20/05/2007.

Apparently Sony's Gamer's Day had a strong effect on consumer interest in PlayStation 3. After the wave of media and impressions about titles like Uncharted: Drake's Fortune and Heavenly Sword , rejoiced Brits rushed off to Amazon UK to purchase their very own PlayStation 3.

The site listed the PlayStation 3 as the most sought after item right after Gamer's Day. At that time, Nintendo's "black" DS Lite took the #5 spot, Xbox 360's premium system took the #6 spot, and Nintendo's Wii ran up the pack at #8.

Now, two days later, PlayStation 3 is still enjoying boosted sales at the #4 spot. The next step is for Sony to release some of these heavy hitters to seriously raise some interest in their high-end console.

The more expensive a console is...the less units it's suppose to move.  Everyone should know that, but what's going on with the Wii! Shame on them for letting a console over twice as expensive (over 4 times the abilities though) beat up on them !

PSU.com is a playstaion site. Think they may be a bit biased?
The posting is only a snapshot of a single moment for a specific region. But regardless the PS3 sales are declining (as well as the 360 and the Wii) and still behind the Wii and the 360.

If i were you i would becareful that Sony might sue you because of your attitude towards Sony and HD DVD. The more posts I read from you, the less i like them and what your saying. I would love to see Blu-ray fail just to read the posts in this thread. That alone would be worth it. You know there are HD_DVD fans and supporters here and yet you purposely throw negative stats at them. Why?

Wait for it.........wait
and here is where you pick certain words or sentences to quote and post replies to and throw some random link to "support" your statement.

Why must you always be so negative against what YOU think is right? Again, if you are trying to be informative don't be insulting and TRY being helpful.

The numbers are ultimately from Amazon.UK.  Unless you are saying Amazon.UK is biased, that statement makes no sense.  All one would have to do is cruise on over to the website and look for oneself.

Yes, and the all of them are behind the PS2 in sales.  It is common knowledge that sales decline during this portion of the year.  How does that change the fact that the PS3 is still on track for beyond 60+ million sold during it's lifetime (based on PS2 sales during the same time period)?

That statement was nowhere near logical.  State one similar case of this happening when the individual doesn't work for the company in question.

If you don't like that, try reading non-factual and illogical statements and personal attacks that have nothing to do with the format...in a thread that is suppose to be about factual statements and factual contributions.  At least, from me you're getting factual information without personal attacks.  Be greatful.

Well, there seems to be a group of HD DVD fanboys that echo your sentiment when it comes to the truth.  It happens.  If logic ruled that group, the facts would not be an issue.

That's was HD DVD fanboys/Sony haters do.  And, they will use emotion to convince an otherwise logical person to go down with the ship.  Later on they will have their little forum spots on the internet for them to gather and talk about how HD DVD would have won if it wasn't for the PS3 (sounds almost like the end of a Scooby Doo show..."and I would have gotten away with it, too, if it wasn't for you kids and that pesky dog"). LOL

How many people have you heard speak about Blu-ray using facts in the forum besides me?  None.  There are people here that support Blu-ray too.  I put the facts out there about Blu-ray and won't let those HD DVD fanboys misinform other people about something they know very little about (Blu-ray).  I just happen to know about both formats through my ealier research.  I have increased my knowledge about both over the months to stay accurate (that's very important...to be accurate).  But, of course, this is nothing I haven't said many times before.  Some people just don't listen.

Blu-ray Destroying HD DVD In Europe

Impact of new console in market "significant"
by Amy-Mae Elliott
