Simple question: do "Wardrobe Mistress" and "Wardrobe Master" credits qualify for entry as "Costume Designer", or don't they?

Are they the only costume / wardrobe credits?

Might these credits be considered equivalent to "Wardrobe Supervisor", which is contributable?

Sometimes they are, sometimes they're not. Why would that matter? The rules on the "Costume Designer" credit certainly don't make that distinction.

Just to illustrate where this leads: if there are no "Sound Editors" credited, but there were "Sound Effects Editors", should those be entered instead? Because the same approach could be applied to that: Might these credits be considered equivalent to "Sound Editor", which is contributable? Is that what we want? If the jobs in the crew credits table don't appear in the film credits, we just enter the next best thing, whatever looks close enough? That sounds like a very slippery slope...

Back then in 2015 we decided to exclude any wardrobe credits if there is a costume designer available: see here. But this rule change request did not get processed anymore before support closed down.

Background: Costume designer is a completely different job, and listing any wardrobe personel is only a compromise to list a least anything if there is no designer employed.

For everybody who has no acces to the rules forum, this was the outcome of a longer thread:

How about this?

Quote:
Costume Designer:
Costume Designer
Costumes Designed by
Costumes by
Costumes Created by
Wardrobe Designer
Wardrobe Created by
Gowns/Costumes/Clothes/Wardrobe/Uniforms for [Cast Name/Group] (Designed) by

If no Costume Designer credit:
Gowns by
Wardrobe by
Costume Supervisor
Wardrobe Supervisor

Note: if a Designer is credited, do not credit Supervisors.

Incorrect Roles:
(Any) Provided by, Courtesy of, or Company names.
Wardrobe Mistress
Wardrobe Master
Costumer

I think, this is a good proposal to get the creative people and leave out the costumers and taylors.

Can we forward this proposal to the Support team?

... which was forwarded to the support.

Yeah, I'm very much aware of that proposal. If only Invelos had done anything with it, then we wouldn't be having this discussion today.

Wardrobe Mistress/Master is generally a credit for the person in charge of keeping up with the costumes, making sure they're cleaned/pressed/together/ready for the production.  This is not a design credit.

We must consider that going forward, Invelos is not going to be involved at all.  In anything; rules related or not.  There are not very many regular contributors any longer, so if we have come to a consensus, my opinion is we should go by that, and run the rules as a community rather than waiting for guidance from above that is never going to come.  (Much like where I work, in 16 years I've never met the owner of our shop, we workers simply run the place as we see fit.  As long as he gets his money, Dan doesn't care what we do.)
If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.

Maybe, but the credit doesn't have to match the crew table exactly, or do you think we should remove people credited with "Screen Play" or "Art Direction", neither of which is listed exactly that way in the crew table. (Close, but close is apparently not good enough.)

I'm personally more concerned about profiles being modified by people who don't have the discs than I am about the difference between "Wardrobe Supervisor" and "Wardrobe Master".

by modified do you mean correcting cast/crew credits, production year original titles. Usually on profiles that haven't been touched since the birth of Invelos?

1.
I don't mind profiles if being modified by people who don't have the discs if the modification is something that doesn't change with the release like the original title or the production year, cast can be tricky sometimes.
I once had the case with a british TV series that had different cast listed for one episode (Gernan vs. Australian release).

2.
Only just read the above proposal quote.
That would be weird, entering Costume Designers but not Costume Supervisors could be read as entering Make-Up Artists but not Make-Up Designers, due to the wording of the crew credits table.
There'd be tons of corrected profiles to be processed.
