For @&£$% sake! I got a Gold Star!

After 12 years my true worth has been recognised.  Somehow, I feel just a little bit more special this afternoon.  I finally have evidence that my life actually does have a purpose.  It's something to cling to in these times of uncertainly and change, an anchor to hold tight upon, my rock of stability, the eye in a hurricane, a shining beacon in the darkness, an island of calm in an ocean of chaos, a sliver of sanity in a multiverse of decay and squalor, the original series in a franchise got mad. You probably get the idea...

I do have a few questions for those of you that have also been elevated to this incredibly prestigious position:

Do I need to learn a special handshake or something?
Where do I buy the t-shirt from?
Will Mr. Invelos be personally coming to visit me to give me my Star?
The award ceremony: is it a formal event that I need to dress up for?
Will people be able to tell as I walk along the street?
And most importantly, do I get paid more?

Finally, thanks to anyone who's ever taken the time to acknowledge anything that's I've ever written here.    I couldn't have done it without you.
Do you ever find yourself striving for perfection with an almost worthless attempt at it?  Guttermouth "Lemon Water".  Also, I include in my Profiler database VHS tapes, audio DVDs, audio books (digital, cassette and CD), video games (digital, DVD and CD) and 'enhanced' CDs with video tracks on them, as well as films and TV I've bought digitally.  So I'm an anarchist, deal with it.  Just be thankful I don't include most of my records and CDs etc in it too; don't think I haven't been tempted...

Ah yes, I remember my first. My wife took me out to dinner, and the Mayor of my town read a Proclamation. I forgot which one gets you the ticker tape parade!

Congrats and I'm sure well deserved! And your post was fun reading.

Thank you all.

I quite like the sound of a Proclamation, although I'm such a humble person I'd probably find it a bit embarrassing.

Feeling a bit anxious about going out tomorrow, in case I'm mobbed in the street.    Maybe I should just stay home and watch films, until the excitment all blows over. Got the UHD Director's Edition of Star Trek: The Motion Picture today, in a nice box.  The company I bought it from (via eBay) was so nice it sent me two copies but only charged me for the one I ordered.  Stupid me, I let it know about its mistake.  Last time something like that happened I got four, nice, Criterion Collection Blu-rays that I hadn't even ordered.  In that case I did just hang onto them.  That probably makes me a bad person.    I'm probably going to lose my Star now.

Small acts of karma can maintain your gold star, like picking up all your dishes after dinner.

And then maybe not. Check your laws. In the US, companies are not allowed to send unsolicited packages, so if you get something you didn't order, you are allowed to keep it and are under no obligation to either reveal that you got it or return it. But if you do reveal it, the company is not allowed to request or demand its return. At least that's the way I understood the article I read.

So lift your head once more. Soak in the glory!
