Now that Invelos has (if I understand correctly) bought IVS, will anything happen in terms of the database? Will the DVD Profiler 2.4/2.5 database be merged into this? Will we see any changes made?

Agreed - if we, the users, have a say in this, I would say not to integrate the two, simply due to the mass confusion it may cause.

But that's why I'm asking the question.

We will integrate, but all existing Invelos profiles will remain, there will be no overwriting with the IVS versions.  Also, only UPCs/disc ids that are able to convert automatically will be merged.  Look for the merge to happen late this week.

That's good. So basically, it'll just be profiles coming over that haven't been contributed to the Invelos database?

So Ken, is the long term plan to let V2.4 die? If so, I won't waste any more time trying to keep my 2 versions in synch.

Yes, 2.4/2.5 will have a limited life span.  I'll post more information after the data merge.

So, Ken... I'm assuming I can get rid of 2.5 without worrying whether or not I'll 'need' it again in the future??

Why ask this?  Clearly 2.4/2.5 has a limited lifespan.

I finally feel confident in dumping 2.4/2.5.  I've kept it this long, just in case, but I honestly don't believe it will serve any further purpose at this time.  But I will keep the install for a while longer along with a final backup.  I can't imagine anything going wrong at this point.  But better safe than sorry.  Maybe it will be interesting for nostalgia sake in a few year.

In this time and age, who cares about airing dates? It's a digital datastream, just use lindvr and watch it when you want to.

Hey, its a point of pride.  Like watching a movie the first time in a real theater.
