OK, guys, I am long time user but not a big contributor, have done a few in the past but mostly all DVD's were already in the DB since I order my dvd's from US and sent to indonesia.. Now a week ago or so when invelos was out of the airI started a few cover scans and basic DVD info , and when invelos got back I contributed them. The example I use is Eragon region 4. I did the cover scans and put in basic info, but the crew and actors were not complete yet. (no time) the scans were excellent quality. SO someone else came and did an excellent job of entering the long list of actors and crew, but unfortunately the scans were very pale. so I deselected to update the coverscans but took the profile updates. Now I want to re-contribute the hi-Q cover scans alone. Now I can't find how to contribute just the covers, AND most important , put in a remark like ('better cover scans'). Can anyone enlighten me ?

Thnaks a lot,

Erick

from the top menu:

Online->Contribute DVD Profile...

then in the new window check the box labeled as "include cover scans"

this will open up your web browser to the website part of the contribution status, a box for notes " better cover scans" as well as below provide a list of all differances between the existing profile and your submission. you want to make sure all the boxes are unchecked except for the cover scans - this will ensure you only contribute your covers, and the online profile will now have the better profile data that someone else did and your better cover scan.

hope this explained it ok.

You do not get the browser window when you make a totally new contribution to the online database. You only get it when you make additions/corrections for existing profiles.

... and, FWIW, on my machine the browser opens then immediately disappears behind the open Profiler window so I have to change to the browser window manually.

I have noticed that too. One of the few things that I find very irritating. When this happened the very first time for me I didn't notice it at all. I had several other browser windows open. Later I found that there was one contribution in my contribution history list without any status. Only then I discovered the contribution page and checked the fields I wanted to update in the profile. After that the status was changed to Received.

I have not verified if this behavior has anything to do with the browser (IE or Firefox) and the way new browser windows are set to open in the browser configuration. Perhaps somebody else has more info on this...

Try setting your browser so that it opens any new window by reusing the current window - in other words, it overwrites the current window.  Either that, or close your browser before sending any profiles upstream.  That way it will open on the contribution screen right off.
