The thing I find interesting is that this profile has been like this (1925 Version) since it was released in September of 2005. If this is going to cause so much trouble in the db, why has it taken so long for you people to notice?

I say that it does not, has not, and will not not cause any problems. If it were the plague on the database you people make it out to be, it would have been noticed before now.

I suspect it is the timing that a lot of people are becoming disgruntled about the Edition Field in these last few weeks.  I see in the voting more and more people are starting to complain about marking something "Widescreen Edition" when there is no full-frame edition and other such generalities in the Field (although thousands have already gone into the 3.0 database that way).

"(1925 Version)" might have been a barely noticed flaw back in 2005, but this summer something really goofy like that in the edition field hits a sore spot with a lot of people.  I think its more about a build-up over Edition Field in general than just Ben-Hur.

The Widescreen Edition or whatever has been a sore topic with me for years. I don't get it, if there is no other version, we have that information elsewhere in the Program anyway. But users wanted it, this is an ancient argument. To users who wish to be disgruntled, they just have to be disgruntled, whether I like it or not, it was decided long ago and it IS the way we do things and it isn't going to change. The reason is we can't keep going around and changing the way we do things and redoing work because a new flock of users has come on board and they don't like it. Locally users are free to do it anyway they wish, but for the Online they will do it the Profiler way and as I said, that is not any different just because I might agree. I am not interested in having a new batch of users saying that oh we agree with what Skip says about the Edition, and now I have to go back and undo years of work, and then the next group comes in and changes it again...NO not gonna happen.

Well, now that Ken has made his decision on the title, It's probably time to start locking the rest of the profile.

We really should start working on locking the profiles on a large percentage of the db.

I wish we could apply this logic to the workings of the US Government!
