Do you realize how many companies release DVD's before their street dates?? , Hundreds .,
totaling  thousands of titles every year., Yet you don't hear about these..
Firstly one could have seen the movie already in the cinema.

Secondly, very few people do the Homer* when it's abou a movie but obviously to be a spoilsport about HP seems to be real fun.

*
When Homer Simpson left the showing of The Empire Strikes Back and shouted, "I can't believe Darth Vader is Luke's father!" in front of the line of people waiting to see the next showing

And nomrally you're also not able to sell your "earlybird" copy of a book with an SRP of 19.99 for 175.00 on ebay, or put 400 pics of the books pages taken with a digicam up for sale for 100.00

If there ever was a book that's eagerly awaited by readers all over the world, it's this one: global midnight deliveries, bookstores opening at midnight just for selling it, kids reading the book till the wee morning hours in the store with their parents.... whatever stance you have towards the franchise, bloating and spoiling the information before the release date and making profit this way is shameful.

Given the extreme secrecy measures taken by the author and her publisher and the strict legal contracts put in place, it's stupid beyond belief to regard this release as "normal" and act upon this evaluation. And every company breaching their contracts and agreements deserve what's coming for them, and won't get a iota of sympathy from me.

Serves them right.
"I am Andrew Ryan and I am here to ask you a question:
Is a man not entitled to the sweat of his own brow?

No, says the man in Washington. It belongs to the poor.
No, says the man in the Vatican. It belongs to God.
No, says the man in Moscow. It belongs to everyone.

I rejected those answers. Instead, I chose something
different. I chose the impossible. I chose…
Rapture."

period.

I am one of those adult fans.

Harry Potter is a pretty easy read, more The Chronicles of Narnia than Lord of the Rings, but still enjoyable. I’ve read thousands of books and only a small percentage do I revisit – the Harry Potter series is one of them.

Do you like action, adventure, or fantasy books or DVDs?

If so, I would encourage you to give at least the first book a try. After reading the first I knew I wanted to read the rest. I’m not obsessed, no standing in long lines for me, but I do want them all.

You can’t care about something you haven’t touched. IMHO, you should rethink your decision and give it a second thought. Go ahead Kevin…take an adventure!

I'm not even sure why someone would be "proud" to have not seen something. It doesn't make sense. Have some culture, try things you're not sure you'll like. You could be surprised.

I've never read a book or seen any of the movies - but I own the first two books and all of the movies, and I know at some point, I'll want to try them.

My daughter's copy shipped Tuesday from deepdiscount too. I agree with John... I am sure they were just trying to get it to people on release day. I just hope this don't hurt Deepdiscount's prices or change their stance on shipping early enough for you to possibly get releases on release day.

The sh*t really hit the fan on this one though.  Got two calls via phone from the Post Office to see if it had been delivered, and the mailman asked this morning if it had been delivered.  I got it yesterday, and threw the shipping stuff out with last night's trash.  The mailman was prepared to take it back!

So, DeepDiscount is getting enormous heat on this one.  Some gumby in the warehouse shipped them too early, no doubt, and they use a private shipping outfit, so once it was authorized it was beyond their ability to stop.

The retailer made a mistake, they need to take responsibility. (This may cost the consumer I’m afraid.) But, someone bought and paid for an item…sorry…not my fault. It’s mine and you can’t have it.

It really is comical. Those crazy Harry Potter fans and profit mongers trying to wreak havoc on the world. The government has failed to control the spread of “The Spoiler” They must be stopped. This is a job for the Potter Patrol.

.Psssst….who dies?  I promise I won’t say anything. Really, I promise.

I am hoping they will just get a fine out of it... but at the same time I hope it doesn't change their policy on shipping pre-orders out to be delivered by release date. Of course I love getting my orders as soon as possible. Like I got my Secrets of Isis: Complete Series 5 days early.

but hopefully we won't lose DD.com all together.

LOL... she hasn't let the book slip out of her hand long enough for me to peek.  Not that I actually would... since I never read any of the books yet. I may want to.

Yeah, hopefully just a fine, and probably that publisher may be a bit arsey with subsequent books, but hopefully nothing too damaging.
I mean it's just a bloody book - is it really going to cause the end of the world if a few people got it early?
