Sort order for TV shows with 10 or more seasons |

I'm sorry if this topic has been covered before but I couldn't find it after a half an hour of searching the forums.
I have seasons 1-9 and season 11 of Frasier. My sort title field for all the seasons are "Frasier Season 1, Frasier Season 2, Frasier Season 3, etc." The problem is that "Frasier Season 11" gets put between "Frasier Season 1" and "Frasier Season 2". I can't find a setting that changes this sort behavior.
Does anyone know how to fix this? I don't want Season 1, 11, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9. It should be Seasons 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11.

| | Posted: | | | | Yeah, I was going to do that, but I was hoping that there was a less "hacky" method of doing this. An intelligent sort function would be pretty easy to implement. Putting zeros in front of numbers to correct a sorting problem is pretty weak.
Of course, if this is the worst thing I come across in this application, then I'm sold. DVD Profiler is really a great piece of software and the seamless syncing with my Sprint Mogul is awesome! |

As for the reason I don't have season 10, the studio hasn't released season 10. They released season 11 almost immediately after the final episode aired on TV so that they could cash in on people who wanted that final episode on DVD. If I remember correctly, season 11 was released around the same time as season 1. Then the studio released the seasons in chronological order after that. Currently, they're up to season 9. Season 10 will be the final release.
Anyway, I just did the 0 in front of the single digits to get around this sorting problem. Thanks to Pro_Trek for that suggestion.

Glad to hear you got it sorted though - it's helpful to know for when season 10 of the Simpsons comes out!  |

as others have said - everybody (well apparently not everybody) would set up the sort title to be Season 01, Season 02 etc..  The sort titles are private for this very reason. So the sort is done exactly as you wanted.. | | | | Paul |

Glad to hear you got it sorted though - it's helpful to know for when season 10 of the Simpsons comes out! It is a limitation of the software. I used to use Collectorz.com Movie Collector and it would intelligently sort titles based on the digits in the sort field. My copies of Frasier were correctly sorted in that application without adding leading zeros to the titles. In fact, it's been awhile since I've come across an application that DIDN'T do intelligent sorting. Like I said though, it's annoying, but if this is the worst thing I come across while using DVD Profiler, then I'll be a happy camper. I would like to see the developers implement an intelligent sort function, but it's not a deal breaker for me. I'd much rather see true barcode scanning implemented (not just a keyboard wedge, but a true scanner interface utility). Whatever. The devs are doing a good job so far and I'm happy with the app. |
