I am a relatively new user of DVD Profiler and I have searched this forum and help functions for assistance, but to no avail.

I am running on an XP platform and I am using DVD Profiler Version 3.0.3 and Build 1136.  I have two PC's in my house that I want to be able to have access to our movie collection.  Currently I have 481 movies.

I was able to load all of my movies (481 in total) and update the images.  All looks great.  I uploaded my collection online and it shows 481 movies.  So far so good.

I downloaded and installed DVD Profiler on my second PC.  No problem.  I logged on downloaded my collection.  It downloaded the titles of all 481 movies, but it only downloaded 164 of the cover images.  I have tried updated, deleted and retrying and about everything else that I can think of, but no new images.

Any ideas?  The all of the movie profile information appears to be there, just no covers.  Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

OK, I did a backup on the first machine and then restored it on the second machine.  All is synched up and appears to be working correctly.

What could play a role here: in your online collection, the data are taken from your upload, however the images are taken from the central Invelos database. So whenever your local images are different from those in the central database or whenever you have images that are not in the central Invelos database (please submit them!), you will see different or no images, respectively, in your download from the Invelos database.

Since you are a paid registrant you should have the high-res covers. What you see (and download) online and the low-res.

You should 'refresh all images' to get the high res covers on the 2nd machine. (and possibly the 1st if you don't already have them)

FWIW I do the same as you. I sync up 2 machines using my online collection. Every time I download to the 2nd machine I do a quick image refresh on any new DVDs I've added.

Every now and then I find one I missed, but it's easy enough to refresh those as I find them. It's still easier and faster than carrying my collection on a USB Stick and restoring it to the 2nd machine.

@ dee1959jay

do you really have 1,191 posts? Your user profile only shows a few. Some kind of bug maybe?

the user profile shows the same number for me as next to the flag here in his post.

However, I forgot exactly how, but I noticed the other day that there is something else counting as posts (really wish I remember what made me notice...).

@ lyonsden5 and ya-shin:

The vast majority of those 1,191 posts are contributions to the Invelos database (mainly from shortly after the move from Intervocative, when the Invelos database needed to be filled) - apparently until some time ago these were counted as posts.

Whilst that was true at the old site it shouldn't be true here. Otherwise I'd be in the region of 2000 posts having been one of the mad people submitting a load of stuff when Invelos opened to help build the database.

@ Lithurge:

I have no other explanation for my posts count - in the early days of Invelos (March 2007) I was one of those mad people as well. However I'm sure contributions are no longer counted as posts. Maybe that only applied to a limited time frame?

Would that be Private Messages? It is the only thing that would make sense to me. Over time I have noticed a number of user profiles with high post counts with very few forum posts. I concluded that it was either a bug or PMs.

Sorry I wasn't clear.

As far as I'm aware contributions have never counted as posts at Invelos. It was only ever at the old IVS site they counted.

I contributed over a 1000 profiles in the first couple of weeks or so, but know that the post count is a fairly accurate reflection of my actual posts as you can view all your forum posts and mine is somewhere over 20 odd pages, with around 20 posts a page.

Your post count is certainly closest to your submission record, but it seems a very odd bug that only affected you and not anybody else (at least not anybody who's posted in the forums).

Must be a bug, just sent you a PM and remained at 522 (or 533 with this post).

Yep....my reply to you PM didn't increase my post count either. Well it was a good theory.

Maybe so, but still I can't think of any other explanation, be it forum posts or PMs. As I recall from March of this year, my post count did rise as I was contributing to the Invelos database. No idea how or why.
