I've come accross a list of undocumented Uncredited in The Devil Wears Prada UPC 5-039036-029643, locality UK,
pretty similar to the Uncredit list in IMDb.

Is it a close match of IMDB?
Like I said it's very similar, yet there are a couple of differences: a name in IMDb (Tim Krueger) is not present in DVDP, and there is another slight difference (Clacker / Clacker #1).
What do you reckon?

  DVDP database:

Very simple answer, Enry. The data was never properly documented and slipped past the screeners. The data should be removed or docyumented.

While this may be true, it is not the answer to the question. To remove uncredited credits you have to either document that it is wrong or you have to document that it is a close match to IMDb. Therfore the question is if this match to IMDb is close enough to remove the data without further documentation. In this case I would say yes because the role names are very close almost identical even where they are not the obvious name to be choosen.

Uncredited data should never be removed unless it's 100% identical to a third party database or the data remover can prove the uncredited cast do not exist.

The other question is...is the data correct? If it's correct then it doesn't matter if it matches IMDB. So if you can't verify that there is something incorrrect about the data, I would leave it alone.

I know the search tool is not very powerful, but you can google "close match" site:invelos.com, and you'll find this clarification by Ken, posted on September 21:

Quote:
Uncredited should only be removed where they are a match with a third party database.  Note that they do not have to be an exact match.  If they are a close match with any third party database, and there is no listed justification, it's safe to remove them.

Mmm, seems to me you already had your answer. So why did you ask?

I didn't ask what the rules are. The rules are what Ken said: you can remove Uncredited if they are undocumented and a close match to any 3rd party.

I asked: do you think this is a close match? I think it is.

I think it's a close enough match to warrant removal, but it would be very nice of you if you did a quick search and double-checked that you definitely can't verify their inclusion first.
Removing those you can't verify and adding the documentation for those you can would be a great help to the database.

There is no onus on you to do this Enry, but I agree with my UK friend that it would be of great service to all other users if you did a quick check of the actors being removed, as some of the data could be accurate and valuable to other users.
cheers

That's what I'll do. Totally agree.

Which is, of course, not how the rules say it can be done.

Yes, it does matter.  If the stuff is undocumented, AND is a close match -- both conditions of which are true in this case -- it can be removed, per the rules, correct or not.

It's amazing, John, how these people see things, they will allow Rules to be blatantly broken, they are willing to impose their will on everyone to suit their convenience, and they are willing allow data to remain that was clearly illegal to begin with and undocumented. not to mention how little they comprehend of Db design. Their logic while understandable is completely illogical.
