well firstly... if you were not aware of the load times in this technology, you should have been before you bought it... not sure how that comes off... but back to the questions at hand...

what blu-ray player do you have?
have you updated it to the latest firmware?
did your Ratatuille disc have any defects or scratches?
are you using an hdmi connection?

as far as remembering where you are, if indeed your player did "crash" i doubt that would have been saved anyhow, in addition, that is a feature that is added by the manufacturer at their leisure, im pretty sure my player has it...

have you now re-tried this and seen if it can be reproduced either at the same point in the film or at least on the same disc?

do you know what version your firmware is?

How to Check Current Firmware Version

  1. Power on the television and make sure it is tuned to the inputs to which the BDP-S300 player is connected.
  2. Power on the BDP-S300 Blu-ray Disc™ player.
  3. If the player starts to play a disc, press the "STOP" button and wait until the blue Sony Blu-ray Disc screen is displayed on the television before proceeding.
  4. On the remote control (RMT-B101A), press the SYSTEM MENU button.
  5. At the "System Menu" screen, use the arrow keys on the remote control to highlight "Setup" and then press the ENTER button.
  6. At the "Setup" screen, use the arrow keys on the remote control to highlight "Video Setup" and then press the ENTER button.
  7. Use the arrow keys on the remote control to highlight "TV Type" and then press the ENTER button.
  8. On the remote control, press "BLUE" button.

the latest version is 3.30

By the way I just checked out that website. WOW!!! I could have saved enough money to buy the Blu-Ray a year ago, when I wired my whole house for Cat5e cable. Damn Home Depot....I will check this place out when I decide to wire the house for Audio. That is the next project. Im sure this one will cause a divorce.

This would be the only way to pick up where you left off.

Advanced mode enables some special features, so 99% of HD media is this way....there are a few exceptions on some of the first release High Def releases.

ah ha... maybe im thnking i have it on mine because it resumed a dvd i was watching upconverted...

i work retail electronics, so i should not talk to much about this lol... however i did need a 4 port HDMI switch that we do not carry at my job, and i found they had one that was reasonably priced... it arrived, worked amazing, and is rock solid.
