Hmm what if you launch profiler first, then open the disc tab and press add disc from there, and set. Maybe that would work for you. Or you could just turn off the automatic launching of the dvdplayer on your laptop.

You need to change the Autoplay setting in Windows to off, or in your movie player there might be an option to "Do Nothing" rather than "Play Movie" when a disc is inserted.

In Windows XP, right click on the DVD drive and select Properties. On the Autoplay tab, you can select an action for each type of media it detects when inserted. Select DVD Movie and then "Take no action" or you can tick the Prompt me each time radio button. Apply. Your movie player should not automatically start playing an longer.

Now, on to Disc ID. If profiler is opened when you put in a DVD, a few moments after inserting a movie, Profiler should automatically go to the profile for the inserted disc. If the disc is not recognized, you may be prompted to "Add to collection" (don't remember the exact words). If you already have the profile, you don't want to add it again, so select No. Select Profile/Edit to open the profile in edit mode. Select the Discs tab, and if there is no Disc there yet, you have to Add it. If there is already a disc there, you can select the Set button to set the disc ID to match the disc in your drive. Many times, you will not see a change if the profile has the same disc ID as your disc.  Once you have played with this, I think you will see how it works, otherwise, ask more questions.

Now the question arrives today,, what do we do when we have the same movie , same UPC but different Disk ID ??
The idea  of having your disc ID is to be able to have that disc come up up 'title wise' in your profiler.
If someone else has a different disc ID and submits the  new ID, If it gets accepted, the older existing ID gets changed in the data , then weeks or months later we find we are ping ponging this ID back and forth again thru the contributions.

Where does it stop? and does the different ID come from manufacturing or res issues ??
