Do I have a non-standard version of Season Three of Lost?

I've got a digipak/slipcover version which naturally doesn't have separate images for the discs.  The online version shows keepcases with unique images for discs 1&2, 3&4, etc.

Which is the more common variant -- the one with keep cases and separate images for each case or the one with one digipak?

Very odd. If you check my online collection, you will see that the children each have an odd cover, too. Do you enter the children by disc ID, or by name?

I used disc id, and mine looks like yours -- we're both in the same "incorrect art" boat...
If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.

Mine was Digipak as well, and every set I have seen at Best Buy, Target, and Circuit City are all Digipak as well. I don't know where the person who created the Disc profiles got his set from, but I would bet that his is the variant version. I changed mine to match my case type and copied the scans from the parent profile into each child profile, then locked the case type and cover images locally.

Thanks for bringing this up.  I've been meaning to ask the same thing.

The set I purchased at Best Buy on release day was also a digipak.  I assumed the one in the database was probably a store exclusive and changed my local images to reflect the digipak.  It would be nice to know, though, where the other packaging was originally released.

Well, my local version is "locked and loaded" so to speak, so other than always being prompted in the update that my local differs with the online I'm okay.

But I did wonder where the contibutor got his data and covers.  I haven't PMed him yet, but may do that the next time I log on from home.  (Maybe tonite since all TV is broadcasting Bush's State of the Union message and talking-head followups.  And I don't have to watch that as closely as I would a drama or comedy.  Listening is more important to that stuff than watching.)

The images are more than likely for the Rental only version.  Where each disc has its own case to make renting out individual discs instead of the complete series.

While I have the R2-release, here both season 1 and 2 are ThinPacks in a slipcase - and yes, each disc does have individual covers.

Season three are also ThinPacks in a slipcase with individual covers, but here, each ThinPack contains two discs...

The only guy credited with contributing the child profiles is Pockets.  I've PMed him and asked where he got his information.  The thing is, the individual covers for Discs 1/2, 3/4, etc., all show the R1 logo on the back cover.  So unless someone has been really creative with PhotoShop (for what purpose I have no idea) there must be a keepcase version out there somewhere.  Maybe a reviewer copy?

I don't have this title at all yet... but if it shows region one... only other explanation (other then photoshop or a review copy) I can think of... maybe the packaging was different for the Canada locality? Doubtful... but maybe possible?

Disney normally has different packaging for US and Canada, but generally it's nothing more significant than a tiny Canadian flag in the corner in the north-of-the-border release, and sometimes the ugly French language thingie they ruin the front with. They could be ramping it up.

My copy's the digipack and I just copied the disc art from the main profile over to the discs.

I don't know where the individual art has come from but it is not from the standard retail release as that is the digipack which we all have.
Plus, I remember seeing at least one PR which showed an exploded version of the digipack.

If this is a Canadian thing then it should be on the Canadian locality and not the US one.
If it's a rental thing (that's where my money is at the moment) then it shouldn't be in DVDP at all.

When it prompts you with the updates you can either a) right click the update and select 'ignore this update' or something to that effect (don't have the program on this computer) or b) if you have the fields that are different all locked, just leave it checked to download, you're local won't change and it will not reprompt for that update (at least thats how i remember it working)

additionally, on topic, if that is a special release, or a rental copy(i dont own this title) and it shares a UPC, I would think that the cover art in the online database should match the standard release, providing they were both released at the same time

The contributor, Pockets,  answered my PM and said:

I purchased these from blockbuster in store.  They are not childs of a box set.

So it looks like these were originally a rental copy.  I think I'm going to contribute the child profiles as diskpak with the parent cover as per the rules.  Especially since I can add the episodic-level cast and crew credits which aren't already in the online profiles (though they're there for the parent-level profile).  That would make Season 3 consistent with Seasons 1 & 2.

Possible but the thinpaks would each have the BBFC certificate for the discs contained if they were R2 UK
