Mainly I'm looking for the best way to separate these two guys, possibly by adding birthyear for number one... Any thoughts?

Name: Jim Whitaker
Credited As: James Whitaker

Born: 7 October 1970, St. Louis, USA, as James J. Whitaker

I'd say that if the cinematographer is most commonly credited as Jim Whitaker, and the producer most commonly credited as James Whitaker, then these names should be used as common name, and use of birth year is unnecessary. The only way to determine this, though, would be to go through all available credits using the credit lookup tool, and see how often the cinematographer is credited as Jim or James, and then do the same with the producer.

I was afraid of that...

But the credit lookup tool is unreliable at best since it lists both name variants sometimes credited for the same title! So essentially useless to determine the correct credit if you don't own the title and can check against the screen credits yourself. I'm also afraid that the common names are too common to work since IMDb lists several more people under these names... That's why I wanted to use the birthyear as well.
