On the back cover, it says

So, what is the Country of Origin here? I'm inclined to say Holland/netherlands, as it apparantly is the home country of the disc-producer, but it seems to me that it was actually recorded by Irish television, and the dutch company "just" made the DVD?
The future is here. It's just not widely distributed yet. (William Gibson)

Insufficient data.

But going by what you have here, I'd go for "Ireland". The fact that the Dutch studio is called "Foreign Media Group" implies (but does not prove!) that they tend to distribute non-Dutch titles.

What is the production company (not distribution) credited in the film (not on the cover)?

Ireland! The 'Foreign Media Group' is just the DVD distributor, and we don't use them for country of origin. You seem to be confusing the locality of the DVD (which would indeed seem to be The Netherlands) with the country of origin (Ireland).

Right then - I'll go with Ireland!

No, it doesn't really have a locality. There is english audio only, no subtitles, no region coding and the cover is in english...

Unfortunately, "locality" is not an optional field in DVD Profiler: you'll have to put it somewhere. Theoretically, this would mean the profile can be dumped into every given locality. So I gather you're submitting it into the Danish locality? Given that the distributor is Dutch, I would probably use that as its locality, but then again, I actually AM Dutch, so it wouldn't really feel like a stretch to me...

Yes, I am submitting it as Danish locality, lacking the presence of a Worldwide locality. Would that be something for the features request forum? A locality called "Worldwide"?

"Worldwide": no. "International": perhaps.

Why not worldwide? Because in any case it will either be PAL or NTSC, depending on the global region where it was released. And because it MIGHT have region coding (not in this case, apparently). It is not uncommon - especially, but not only, for music DVD's - to be released more or less European-wide.

Right... Speaking of region coding: The DVD in question reports regions 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 in DVDInfoPro. So, should I tick all regions, or none?
Personally, I would tick all six regions (as there is also a region 7 and 8), but it seems to me that the general consensus on this is that none should be ticked - even though I ahve never seen DVDInfoPro report regions as "None" for any disc that claims to be not region coded...

The reason I'm bringing this up, is that I just did a profile for another DVD, and here DVDInfoPro reported the region coding as 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 8!

So, Tick all or none? Should we suggest to Ken to include tick-boxes for regions 7 and 8?

Indeed! For the record: this is even specifically addressed in the rules:

Quote:
List DVDs encoded for at least Regions 1-6 as "All." Regions 7-8 are ignored for the purposes of DVD Profiler.

However, being somewhat pedantic, there is no "All" option in the dropdown (version 3.1), only "No region coding" & the individual regions 1 to 6. One could interpret the rule as saying that all the individual regions should be checked, whereas my understanding is that (in the case of  Rander's example) the "no region coding" should be checked......or have I got it completely a*** about face??

This inconsistency between the rules and the way things are actually labeled in the program is unfortunate, to say the least. Rules updates don't usually happen "on the fly", but it would be nice if Ken took a minute to fix this. In any case, I understand it to mean that we are to use "no region coding" for this instead of ticking all six boxes.

Agreed; for sure, that's what I do in my local DB.

If a DVD is for all regions, region code should be "0" and that perfectly matches with what you see on the cover of such a DVD (in most cases anyway).

Hmmm...... I'm not sure I agree with "most cases". I've just done a quick trawl though my "all regions" DVDs and find that the majority say nothing at all on the cover, a few say "0" and a couple even say "All regions".

I do agree with using "0" or, as it is in DVDP, "No region coding". In fact, checking each individual region produces an "M" in the displayed profile, which I don't like.

OK, If we are all in agreement  :

All regions = "No region Coding" = 0
