I recently voted no on a contribution that listed cast as
Role
Actor 1
Actor 2
Actor 3
etc.
I voted no and put as my reason that i thought it was an improper use of dividers (no role given for actor). Am I correct in the use of dividers in this situation? the only reason I ask is because I was given a red arrow for this (not too concerned since its only one, and I know its not a valid reason for a red arrow). But I mostly would like to know for future situations that have credits done like this.

So that when someone does a search on a particular actor, the role he played would be displayed. IMHO, this is an excellent example that warrants the use of a divider for the four "Gas 'N Sip Boys":  For this, however, I don't use dividers - I see absolutely no need to duplicate the role name here, once is more than enough. So I'd enter them all (the list continues for another dozen names) as 'Elfette Dancer', without a divider:  |

For instance it's useless to use a plural name as a divider if the roles of the cast below can all be listed in the singular form. Note: While it's commonly accepted to list cast roles in a singular form if the header is plural in the credits, adding the word "Member" however isn't. Dividers are not connected to the following credits. Therefore you loose them in some situations (e.g. when you click on an actor and show the list of films he's playing in). And there are no end group markers. Therefore you would have to abuse an empty divider for this. Sorting a credit list by name is also not possible if you abuse dividers for group roles. | | | | Last edited: by RHo |
