Its seems to me just recently that people from outside the UK are trying to push their version of UK releases upon the UK users in this community.

In the last few days we have had up for voting 2 contributions for

Genesis: When in Rome Live 2007

The majority of the No votes have been as rightfully pointed out, incorrect release date for the UK, SRP in Euro's instead of as expected £, amongst other things.

Other titles recently that I have come across insist that the UK doesn't use English as a language for the Overviews. Tonight (6:00PM 30/5/08 UK time) I have a title for voting that insists Tranformers was released in the UK with 14 Subtitles because his rear cover says so, complete with a new scan which shows as much, despite the online DB carrying the correct one for the UK release.

On top of this, and the reason behind this rant, I checked my Reputation Rating this evening (first time in a while) to find a Negative Vote against a NO vote for one of the Genesis contributions, because I put this as a reason for the No Vote:-

"UK Release Date 26/5/08 according to Amazon, Zavvi, Tesco. Yet another non UK resident without UK details about a release"

Well if your outside the UK and are trying to shove your data at us, please try and make sure it's coreect to the UK when you submitting a UK profile, just because you brought the DVD in your local shop in (elsewhere in Europe) with the same EAN / Disc ID doesn't make it a UK Profile.

If people keep submitting incorrect data I will (and I hope other UK user's) keep voting against them.
Just use your own Locality to contribute, or did you try and other uses from your locality threw them out?

Steve:

This is a LITTLE difficult but I'll have a go at it. Assuming that it is tsrcitly a R2 UK release then its availability outside the UK is completely and totally irrelevant. In short UK Rules and ANY other data by any other is irrelevant and should be kept locallly. BTW whoever you gave the neg vote was out of line.

They COULD set-up a Profile for a title using teir Germany locality, though that seems irrelevant for only SRP and release date. Release date in particularsince the release date within a Region is the same period, date of availability because it is beibnf sold in another locality is a separate and irrelevant uissue as we don't deal with that. R2 is a bit problematic because you have so many varied Localities within the region.

Where the user lives is not even a question, the ONLY question at hand is what Region and Locality the disc is from. The ONLY exception to this that I know of is Canada which itself has two localities one for French (Quebec) and one for English and some of their titles are done bilingually, so you would use the appropriate Overview for you, English or French.

Steve,

I'm in complete agreement with you on this as I recently found a Arnie film (The 6th Day) under UK locality when it had a Japan cover, I have provided Ken with the details to have this profile changed.

Actually Steve, this one turns out to be very easy. The user provided absolutely no source for ANY of his data, let alone the data which he was wanting to change. I guess he used a dartboard.

The current one for voting by heuts is not the submission that brought about this topic. (just to make it clear to all)

But as first stated, it does annoy me that other European user try to ram their Locality details into the UK lociallty profiles. We recently had a discussion on this over a submission concerning Re-Release covers, but all too often I am getting submissions for voting on whereby the Profile is being submitted as UK but clearly from another European country.

If those of you for who I have voted No against your contributions are agrieved then so be it, but why are you not using your own Locality (Yes i know, not all European countries have their own Locality), but that doesn't mean you can shove it into the UK one just because it's there.

Try shoving into a Locality nearer to your own (and No Netherlands that doesn't mean you can shove all yours into the UK you have your own Locality).

Just so you don't feel like you are alone, this is not a UK only problem.  We here in R1 land get this all the time.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

anyway venting here in the forum will most likely not work. As the forum user base is approx. 150. I think you get a better result by PM the offender, explaining him/her nicely what is going wrong with his/her contribution and point them to the solution. And we see the same behavior from UK users in the other localities of R2.
Sources for one or more of the changes and/or additions were not submitted. Please include the sources for your changes in the contribution notes, especially for cast and crew additions.
