1. how do you know for sure where the info in the other profile came from
2. even if other profile says it comes from the disc itself... everyone can make mistakes... better safe then sorry. | | | | Pete |

KM Generally speaking, I would agree with you. For me, the problem is primarily the undocumented as anything else can quite easily be verified. Look, the first DVD release in region 1 of High Noon was back in '98. Now, I don't know exactly when Profiler got started, but it's safe to say that this movie would have been an early one to get added. As most folks know, we weren't always so...careful...with where we got our data back then. All well and good, but this blindly copying of old profiles means that I can theoretically be recycling 10-year-old garbage. To compound matters, once that stuff gets in the profile, now it's incumbent upon me to prove that it shouldn't be there. For all I know, all that information in the profile is perfectly legitimate, but the problem is that none of us really do know. We just figure, "Well it's been there for a while so it must be good." I like the idea of a reference profile. I will say, if you are going to go through the trouble of copying a profile, then it shouldn't be too much to ask to copy the pertinent notes as well. At least for the stuff that can't be verified against the disk. Oh, and if there are no existing notes to justify uncredited, that alone should be a pretty big clue. | | | | Last edited: by mdnitoil |

I don't see a problem in copying only the credited actors to the new profile for a temporary fix and once the disc gets released, verify the info. | | | We're on a mission from God.
