| | Posted: | | | | Lets say the following occurs in a movie.
In a movie Johnny Carson is shown on TV and it looks like he is interviewing a certain cast member. However the end credits don't credit him at all, but it credits someone, let's say John Schmo providing a voice for him, perhaps a credited role of "Johnny Carson Voice Double".
So of course the Voice Double "voice" actor would get a credit, but what about Johnny Carson? Since he appears on screen and the film makes it look like he is actually doing the interview would he get an "uncredited" credit? |

If that were the case, anytime there is a television playing in a scene we'd have to give credits to whatever actors are appearing on the TV screen at that moment. What got me to think about this is the possibility in the future where they take famous people and through CGI and voice doubles make it look like they are interacting with cast members from the film. |

What got me to think about this is the possibility in the future where they take famous people and through CGI and voice doubles make it look like they are interacting with cast members from the film. You still wouldn't credit a CGI "actor" in that case. You would however credit the voice actor if there is an actual credit in the film's credits for the voice actor. Actually they already did this in Forrest Gump.
In the profile they list for example.
Joe Alaskey as President Nixon's Voice (voice)
Richard Nixon as Himself (archive footage) (uncredited)
I forgot about Forrest Gump when I posted this topic and was thinking about a "what if" situation. |

I forgot about Forrest Gump when I posted this topic and was thinking about a "what if" situation. And that looks like a copy of IMDb data, it sure fits their style.  As this is an older profile there is a very good chance that this credit got in during the great "lets get it all into the new database" as we switched from IVS to invelos. pdf | | | Paul Francis
