Dan Montgomery
Credit Lookup Tool: 6 Titles (12 profiles)

Dan Montgomery, Jr.
Credit Lookup Tool: 10 Titles (27 profiles)

Dan Montgomery Jr.
Credit Lookup Tool: 22 Titles (44 profiles)
We have a winner: Dan Montgomery
based on T!M's 2nd reply:

- (not a single one!)

Dan Montgomery, Jr.:
- Club Dread
- The Dukes of Hazzard

Dan Montgomery
- The Last Man
- New Suit
- On the Line
- Red Dirt
- You Stupid Man

So if all profiles were corrected, "Dan Montgomery" is the "common name" for DVD Profiler purposes. Of course, since both 'Club Dread' and 'The Dukes of Hazzard' both have quite a few copies, the ", Jr" variant will have the largest number of profiles - here we go again - but he's mostly credited as "Dan Montgomery".

Using Dan Montgomery Jr. is out of the question in any case: he is never ever credited as such, not even once - that's not "common" by anyone's standard, it's just propagating incorrect IMDb-data.

Lady's and Gentlemen, if you have any of these profiles kindly change them to:
Dan Montgomery or Dan Montgomery, Jr. [Dan Montgomery] where appropriate! Thank you kindly for the cooperation.

Let me just say something about the choice between Dan Montgomery Jr. and Dan Montgomery, Jr. (comma versus no comma): if you take a close look at the CLT results for both name variants, you'll find the same titles listed under both. That's because the vast majority of those alledged "Dan Montgomery Jr." credits is mined from IMDb, who use the comma-less variant. There's no sense in implementing "Dan Montgomery Jr." as common name right now, since it's rather obvious that the most-credited form in reality DOES use the comma. "Dan Montgomery Jr." is just the IMDb-variant which is hardly ever used in actual credits. It's not surprising that it renders the most hits - that's true for almost every IMDb-name. That doesn't mean it's "common", though: as far as I can tell, there doesn't exist a single commaless credit for him.

until the time commes that nobody mines imDB data (for names, uncredited cast, ...) and everybody changes the credits to what they are on screen we have to live with the situation as it stands.

I think not. You can call it "living with the situation as it stands", but what it really is, is propagating an incorrect IMDb-name that is never ever used in reality! We don't have to live with that: Ken specifically allowed us to take into account such wrong profiles. Really: there doesn't exist even ONE single credit for "Dan Montgomery Jr." - they're literally ALL wrong, all 44 of them. Here you go:

Dan Montgomery Jr.:
- (not a single one!)

Dan Montgomery, Jr.:
- Club Dread
- The Dukes of Hazzard

Dan Montgomery
- The Last Man
- New Suit
- On the Line
- Red Dirt
- You Stupid Man

I agree with T!m. We don't have to "live with the situation as it stands". Ken has already made this abunduntly clear. If it can be proven that the CLT is incorrect then the results from the CLT will be disregarded.
