I was going to submit changes to the Andromeda TV series DVDs but wanted feedback before I do as I am not sure if the current entries are correct by the word of the rules but not with the intent. I've noticed that what is actually the Volume number appears to be entered into the "Edition" field.  I think this is due to in later seasons and later reprints of the cover art the volume information was listed as "Season #, Collection #".  The rules do state "indicating special versions and collections". However, in reading the rules it appears to me when talking about collections means a named collection like "The Criterion Collection" (as noted in example) and not a collection of episodes.

The original season one releases were all just "Andromeda" on the cover and on the spine had 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4 and 1.5 to indicate the season and volume.

The same was true for season two initially with the addition of the volume number under the series title as seen on the submitted cover scan:

Later Season 2 releases and reprints (not sure about season one) and all future seasons rather then the numbers (1.1, 1.2, 2.1, etc.) were printed as "Season X, Collection X" listed under "Andromeda" and on the spines as seen here:

My feeling is the use of the Edition field in the entries for all 5 seasons is wrong and they should be listed as for the first season:

Title: Andromeda: 1.5

and Later Seasons:

Title: Andromeda: Season 2, Collection 3

with the edition field left blank

I wanted to get feedback before I submitted a change to all 25 volumes  as if you follow the word of the Contribution Rules since the world collection is used they appear to be correct but my feeling is that the edition field was not intended to track volumes which is that the collection number actually is.

Opinions?

The actual numbering sounds very complicated, so I'm not going to comment on that!
But you are correct that there should be no volume information in the "edition" field. It should be moved to the title field.

Each title stands on its own as far as the Online is concerned. By reprint are you referring to SAME UPC different data. If that is the case the Online should contain ONLY the data from the ORIGINAL release.

It is not unheard of for Hollywood to slightly alter a title within a series and some users will try and adjust that which is against the Rules Let's say for Example they Andromeda Seasons 1 and 2 but then for Season 3 they add Collector's Edition or maybe The Complete Season 3, for Contribution you deal with the data as it appears on the Cover, the desire for creating "consistency" of titling within the series is a LOCAL issue only, not unlike those users who want to Sort Title James Bond 04 so all James Bonds will be together.

I agree with north on the Volume.

When DVD Profiler v3 came around, lots of titles that had parts separated by colons ended up divided between the title and edition fields, including lots of TV sets, in just the way you describe. It's unlikely that anyone put the Andromeda season/collection subheadings in the edition field on purpose, it probably just happened automatically along the way, and should definitely be put right.
