Skip Exactly. If the box set contains films all made by the same Studio it seems logical to me that the Studio should be set first. The Contribution Rule under Films requires 'Studio' (theatrical release), then 'Production Company', then 'DVD studio distributor' in that order. I don't see why the rule should be any different for box sets provided the films all emanate from the same studio. Is this after all a film database or a dvd container database? You come across many entries in the film database that contain no reference to the studio that actually made the film. I have the feeling that there is often misunderstanding in the relationship between film makers, distributers and exhibitors. On the other hand, a box set containing films produced by different studios I think you have no option but to move down the food chain to the Production Company, then film Distributor, and failing that -the dvd manufacturer/distributor. Studios can then take precedence in the child entries. There's no doubt that entering a box-set sometimes requires some thought to get it right. |

You are trying to establish two separate Rules for the same fields depending on factors determined by YOU, this something I am unalterably opposed to (not you but TWO different definitions). It is simple in ALL cases, no exceptions. Movie Studios make movies which are int eh individual cases or discs, they do NOT make Boxes under any circumstances. That is ONE rule and applies to every Boxset of movies, there is NO ifs, maybes, this or that. We are all free to apply whatever rule we want to locally. All you would do i confuse users and you recognized that yourself when you said "There's no doubt that entering a box-set sometimes requires some thought to get it right." If you simply recognize that Boxsets are not made by Movie Production Companies then you don't have to puzzle over it AT ALL.
