 | | Posted: | | | | | | | Well, I'm not buying the European version unless it can be made region free, which seems unlikely at this point. I'll just continue to buy region A or ALL discs... |

As far as I know, there's only two authorized re-sellers in Canada:http://www.onlybestrated.com/http://www.solutionsav.ca/ I bought my 983-H from Only Best Rated and had no problems with them. I did local pickup, and did not have any kind of post-sales interaction, so I can't speak for their customer service should something go wrong. I've just pre-ordered the BDP-83 from Solutions AV (they're selling the player a few dollars cheaper, and their return/exchange policy is better) and will do local pickup on June 29th. For local pickup pre-orders they do not require payment in advance, but for orders they're going to ship they do. Only Best Rated is the only Canadian re-seller listed on Oppo's website , but an e-mail from Oppo's customer service department has confirmed that Solutions AV are authorized as well. Thanks for the update! Much appreciated. Quick question though: That thread discusses both a hardware and a firmware solution, but I can't find anywhere in that thread where they mention where to download the firmware, only a link to where one can purchase the hardware. Am I missing something? Thanks again. KM | | | | | | Tags, tags, bo bags, banana fana fo fags, mi my mo mags, TAGS! Dolly's not alone. You can also clone profiles.

The download hasn't gone public yet but will do soon, possibly tonight. Keep an eye on the thread. | | | | | | Stuart |

 | | Posted: | | | | | | | I have just placed on order here in NZ for an already modded one (hardware). $1299 NZ. But it will replace my 2 players that I currently run, a Marantz for DVD, SACD and DVDA. And a Pioneer BD player. | | | | | | Last edited: by specise_8472 |

 | | Posted: | | | | | | | I said earlier that I wouldn't buy the (still unreleased) European version but now that it's proven that it can be made region free fairly easy, I might wait for that one instead of importing a US model. Besides, I just picked up a Panasonic BD60 with region free modification so I'm no longer in a hurry to get a new player.    |

 | | Posted: | | | | | | | I am still researching but I am very intrigued by the new gen players being released here in the States. They have one wire (power) everything else (Audio/Video even HDMI, I think) is potentially wireless, Samsung even has a new one which is wall-mountable. As Arte Johnson would say....verrrrrrry interesting.
