| Posted: | | | | Totally and utterly insane match.
But now that it has halted after so much play today, neither will be playing at the same caliber tomorrow as near prior to the match being suspended.
Mahut 4 | 6 | 7 | 6 | 59 (94 aces) Isner 6 | 3 | 6 | 7 | 59 (98 aces)
10h 00m total so far 8h+ on the 5th set alone | | | If at first you don't succeed, skydiving isn't for you.

| Posted: | | | | i was watching too. it is ridiculous. but you have to ask if this is considered a titanic match or two player who can not close it out and thus a slug fest. a match this long would probably only be considered a titanic battle if it was between federer and nadal.
but i think it is still amazing. a 3 day game. their muscles will be destroyed. this is one you do not want to lose. at least no one is giving up. we will see tomorrow. |

| Posted: | | | | About two hours ago I was telling a group of people about the match. I described it as: "Isner and Mahut started their match yesterday and played through the fourth set. The match was suspended due to lack of light. They continued again today until the match was suspended...... due to lack of light." You could have heard a pin drop for about three seconds as my words were registering with them. The silence was finally broken with an echoing, unanimous "WHAT?!" | | | If at first you don't succeed, skydiving isn't for you.

| Posted: | | | | It just shows how stupid the rules regarding the final set really are. It had to happen one day. Statistically speaking we might just as well see a 120:118 final set result one day. This ridiculous system has to be changed to a tie-break. Maybe make it that the tiebreak doesn't come into play at 6-6 but rather at 8-8 or 9-9 to please the tiebreak haters.
edit: you're right KinoNiki, no idea what I mixed up right there | | | - Jan | | | Last edited: by hydr0x |

| Posted: | | | | And here we go again! Game continues, it's now 62-62... edit: I'm absolutely convinced that these records (played games, game duration, number of aces...) will remain forever. Simply because there is bound to be a rule change based on this match. I would be very surprised if they didn't introduce fifth set tie-break to Wimbledon next year (and third set tie-break to ladies matches). | | | Mika I hate people who love me, and they hate me. Isner wins the 5th set by 70-68 in a match that took 11h 05m. What a shame that there must be a loser in this match... | | | Mika I hate people who love me, and they hate me. (Bender Bending Rodriguez) | | | Last edited: by Draxen |
