I've thought about it but I've stuck with keeping my collection alphabetized.

I mix them together. Otherwise, there'd be too much mess with The X-Files, Serenity, etc.

TV serials seperated, spin-off movies along with the serial.
Don't confuse while the film is playing with when the film is played. [Ken Cole, DVD Profiler Architect]

I keep all my movies separated by genre then alphabetical. The Special Interest/TV is it's own section.

I have 3 different sections

- TV series w/ movie tie-ins (sorted alphabetically)
- Movies (sorted alphabetically)
- Disney movies (sorted by release order)

My Disney movies are the animated "classics" only, such as Snow White, Cinderella, Lion King, etc.  Pixar films and other "minor" releases, such as Tinkerbell, and live action films, such as Mary Poppins, and all filed with the other regular movies.

I keep mine separate.  And due to space constraints, I'm considering a new system.  I think I'll get out the first season for each series to display and stored the rest out of sight.  Then people can see what I have.  And if they're interested, I can always go get the rest out of their storage space.

I have a large number of sections.  This is because of space considerations.  I have shelving in my living room, my hall, my bedroom ... and overflow in plastic tubs in my closet.

I have the following sections:
- Movies
- Animated Films
- Documentaries
- Music
- Star Trek
- Midnite Movies
- Criterion Collection (DVD & blu)
- Global Lens Collection
- Anime
- Holiday Movies
- Hentai & Adult
- Box Sets (tv or movie)
- Blu-Rays

I've been considering a shelf in the bathroom for the overflow, that's the point I'm at.

I keep my movies and TV shows separate on shelf & on the file server.  I use Boxee which also keeps the two separated. I hope to move my entire collection to storage once everything is on the file server.

I have them separated out. Partly because of space, partly because it's easier. I have enough tv shows that it is easier to find what I'm looking for by having them separated out. I also have Disney movies (though unlike Eagle, Tinkerbell and other "lesser" Disney releases are added in. Though, most live action are kept with the rest of the movies with some documentaries that are only Disney are with the cartoons).

DVDs that were originally only on TV are kept with the movies...Serenity is with the movies, for instance.

This is a good idea.  I might extend it to the first film in a series and hide the rest away.

Mine: Comedy (Lewis Black, George Carlin, etc.)
        TV
        Music (KISS, Weird Al)
All Movies (although I keep all of the James Bond movies together, making it hard to find Casino
        Royale)
My one wish for the DVD Profiler online database: Ban or remove the disc-level profiles of TV season sets. It completely screws up/inflates the CLT.
FACT: Imdb is WRONG 70% of the time! Misspelled cast, incomplete cast, wrong cast/crew roles. So for those who want DVD Profiler to be "as perfect as Imdb", good luck with that.
Stop adding UNIT crew! They're invalid credits. Stop it!
