I can't find anything in the rules that addresses whether or not to include CoO for box sets.  There's a post from Ken about dimension and color on box set profiles:

Quoting Ken Cole:
Quote:
If the box set section in the rules does not contain an exception for a data element, standard rules apply.  So both dimension and color use standard rules for box sets.

What this means, based on the discussion in the thread is that 2D and color is supposed to exist on multi-film box sets

Would the same reasoning apply to country of origin?  It makes sense to me, especially since we now have the option to choose multiple countries of origin.

Other than the cariications in the Box Set section of the rules, the profile is supposed to follow the regular rules so, yes, I would include CoO.

Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.

I wouldn't. The CoO is directly linked to a film itself. The Parent Profile isn't. It's just a profile of a package containing multiple films with its own profiles.

I can see the point - it just seems inconsistent to include color and dimension info, but not CoO.

I'm not a big fan of adding that to a parent profile either. In my opinion the parent profiles should only include the fields that aren't direclty linked to the film itself:

  • Title

  • Edition

  • SRP

  • DVD release date

  • Case Type

  • Rating System

  • Media Companies

  • Overview

  • Box Set Contents

  • Cover Scans

I agree.  They're just boxes.  There's not a whole lot to know about them.

While this is true, the rules state, "The following Clarifications to the standard Rules need to be used..."  CoO is not one of the clariication so is allowed.
