| Posted: | | | | Hmm.. good point. Although the only way I could do it would maybe to put a link to the thread or to Kluge's page on the wiki. That's all I could do with my access.
Maybe Mithi has a better idea, he has more access on the wiki. |

Also see e.g. this posting from an earlier thread regarding birthyears. cya, Mithi | | | Mithi's little XSLT tinkering - the power of XML --- DVD-Profiler Mini-Wiki |

| Posted: | | | | I am new to this software and have uploaded all my movies. When setting the sort list, I am having trouble viewing the movies in the order I want. Is there a way to have sequels of movies show up together in your list? For instance, I have the entire James Bond collection and would like all the titles to show up grouped together. |

| Posted: | | | | This would work using the correct sort-title.
For sequels I usually use "Franchise Title" followed by the number (e.g.: James Bond 01 for Dr. No) | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

Yes - you can organize your collection any way you want it. For each title go to Edit > General Information > Basic Information > Sort Title. Type in whatever title you want - for example James Bond 01. Once you've changed the titles go to the top of the page to Collection > Reassign Collection Numbers > Reassign All Collection Numbers > Order by Title > Tick Okay. This will change you collection to the way you want it. Good luck! |

I had this similar problem with the James Bond movies as well as others in a series or franchise. I started out as Lewis suggested by changing the Sort Title field (not the DVD Title!) to: Bond 01: Dr. No Bond 02: From Russia with Love ... (and so forth) But this became hard for me to follow and insert with as I was slowly building a Bond collection, and buying out of sequence. What ended up working best for me was to use the Production Year as the sequence number. So now my Sort Title field looks like this: Bond 1962: Dr. No Bond 1963: From Russia with Love ... (and so forth) This made it easier to insert titles into the sort without having to know a specific sequence number. I also now use the same technique for other franchise series like Indiana Jones, Star Trek, and for concert videos of the same artists that occur in different years to keep them in sequence. Hope this idea will work for you too! |
