I hope someone can help me...
My question is: is the blu-ray Dial M for Murder 3D (UK edition) playable on a normal blu-ray player?

I put it on my wish list last month because the title on amazon said blu-ray 3d + blu-ray. So I though: two discs, I can at least play the normal blu-ray on my standalone player.
But now I noticed it is actually one blu-ray 3D disc with both 3D and 2D versions on it. In my experience my standalone player will not play blu-ray 3D discs, so now I'm wondering whether I should buy it at all.

I don't own this particular title, but all of the single disc 3d titles I have also have the 2d version on the same disc.

I have several discs that have both 2D and 3D on them and they have all been playable in my non-3D player.

Is this the 1954  Hitchcock film  ???  ( which was released in 3d  back in the day)
In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. Now the World is weird and People take Prozac to make it Normal.

Yes. Blu-ray 3D can be done as a hybrid disc which just uses the left eye if you watch it in 2D. Many discs don't do this because the 2D and 3D versions are actually different. For instance, in Tangled, the 2D version uses focus effects where the 3D usus distance effects. For 3D movies just shot with real-world dual cameras and no computer processing like Dial M for Murder, the 2D version is just one of the eyes anyway, so you might as well make a hybrid disc.

@apltm:
I have the title in question.

In my blu-ray drive, it first comes up with a warning that no 3D display was identified. By pressing OK you can proceed in 2D.

So the short answer would be: YES.

P.S.
On the back cover, it actually says "This Pack Also Includes the 2D Version, Playable on Your Standard Blu-ray Player."
