I'm visiting New York in a couple of weeks. Are there any good DVD stores worthwhile to visit?

Thanks in advance.

I'm in NYC, but do most of my buying online.

Assuming you mean New York City, the best I can recommend is J & R in downtown Manhattan, which is much more than DVDs/Blu-rays; they have music and musical instruments, computers and other electronics, cameras, phones, housewares, etc. in a handful of storefronts across one city block.

Thank you in advance for visiting New York!

Thanks Caleb, it's indeed NYC I'll be visiting.

Did you ever hear about Kim's Video & Music. Is that worth checking out?

It sounds like the place a friend took me...it has to be 20 years ago.

I remember my friend frequented it, but barely remember the store at all.  Peeking online, I'd guess it's a better choice than J & R.

We have some amazing pizza in NY and plenty that is, well, not amazing.  Two places I would strongly recommend, if you are of a mind, for coal oven pizza that I consider amazing:  Lombardi's or Grimaldi's.  Be prepared to wait on line at either place.  Ask for a Manhattan Special (espresso soda) if they have it, to go with the pizza.  It may sound like an odd combination, but you will thank me later.

Tip: resist the urge to buy from street vendors and small shops. They will likely be very bad pirated copies. But ... you knew that already, right?

I miss Virgin Records in Union Square. It is still a cool place to go. Lots of young people, good cheap food and colorful.

Thanks for al the tips. I will definitely stay away from street vendors.

I love pizza, so we'll probably give that a try as well. Someone also recommended me Bills Bar and Burger.

It's been almost a year since I visited New York. I had a great time, and I had to chance to make a lot of photos. Lombardi's was an excellent tip, by the way.

I finally completed a video slideshow of the trip. Those interested can watch it here.

I'm so glad you enjoyed our fair burg--and one of our best pizza "joints."  The video slideshow is quite excellent!
