An hour ago I downloaded DVDPfA to my HTC Desire HD and started it for the first time. Set up DVDP on Windows, put in the name of my computer and the chosen password, DVDPfA connected successfully [and immediately]. When I told the program where to store the DB - media card - it crashed [report sent].

So I went through everything again but now the app cannot connect. I checked several possibilities on my side, from firewall to VPN, but everything seems all right. Why shouldn't it, considering I didn't change anything between the successful try and the non-successful ones.

No idea why it should connect once but not now, but try changing it to reference the IP address rather then the computer name - I'm not the only person who couldn't connect via name but can by address.

It's getting strange now. After trying everything in the book, the app eventually connected and let me give the to be saved DB a name. Why it suddenly connected I do not know as none of the initial parameters had been changed when it happened. I put that down to hiccup, can happen with so many software and hardware involved.

For the past hour the app sits in the Update Database screen - trying to connect. Checking the Windows app I see no device connected [at least this is consistent].

I'd really love to have my local DB connected instead of the online one. Has anybody an idea how I get this connection to work not just by pure chance?

I have had this happen twice.  I just close the android app and make sure it is not in memory and restart and all seems to work.  WiFi is funny and not as dependable as wired.  If there are other access points near you it can confuse your android and your network but that is the nature of WiFi.

Good luck.

Since there's another thread discussing the same problem I had, I give my findings there: http://www.invelos.com/Forums.aspx?task=viewtopic&topicID=676186
