| Posted: | | | | Should the DVD Child of BD/DVD Combo Packs released with a Slipcover have the Slipcover checkbox checked? I orignally brought it up in the pinned Slip cases and slip covers with images thread. I voted against this update as I don't believe the thread stated what the contributor thought it did. This is NOT about me trying to skirt the rules. It's about interpreting what we have to work with. If the powers at be said not to check the box then I'd happily go along with it and keep it local. I looked throughout my collection and could not find an instance in this scenario where the DVD child has been left unchecked. I disagree with the assessment that there is a "rule" in there at all that is applicable to this situation. I think carrying that 'rule' over to this situation doesn't do any good, nor make any sense. It add's nothing but confusion to the database. Thanks for taking time to vote and post your thoughts! | | | HDTV: 52" Toshiba Regza 52XV545U AVR: Onkyo TR-707 Speakers: Paradigm Monitor 7 v6, CC-190 & Atom Monitors Subwoofer: Definitive Technology ProSub 800 BD/DVD: Oppo BDP-93 (Region Free) HD PVR: Motorola DXC3400 500GB w/ 1TB Expander BD/DVD/Game: 250GB PS3 Slim DVD/Game: 250GB XBox 360 Elite Special Edition (Black) Game: Wii Remote: Logitech Harmony One w/ PS3 Adapter WHS: Acer H341 Windows Home Server |

Was there? I don't remember seeing one when I searched. As the poll looks now it appears the majority supports my position, for whatever that's worth... (isn't much) So I guess we can just disagree and let the screeners decide. I still don't understand what anyone would want it unchecked. I get the part about wanting to be consistent and follow the rules, but IMO there isn't one in this case. What good does it do to have one checked but the other one not? It's exactly the same case and slipcover. I understand why it is with others, as the slipcase is like the parent, and the case inside is the child. But in this case they are one and the same. | | | HDTV: 52" Toshiba Regza 52XV545U AVR: Onkyo TR-707 Speakers: Paradigm Monitor 7 v6, CC-190 & Atom Monitors Subwoofer: Definitive Technology ProSub 800 BD/DVD: Oppo BDP-93 (Region Free) HD PVR: Motorola DXC3400 500GB w/ 1TB Expander BD/DVD/Game: 250GB PS3 Slim DVD/Game: 250GB XBox 360 Elite Special Edition (Black) Game: Wii Remote: Logitech Harmony One w/ PS3 Adapter WHS: Acer H341 Windows Home Server | | | Last edited: by DoubleDownAgain |

| Posted: | | | | IIRC there's one of these infamous forum clarification where Ken or Gerri confirmed that the child profiles wouldn't get the SC checkbox.
To me this makes no sense, especially when it comes to covers and banners because the children still get the SC scan but mustn't have the SC checkbox.
Locally I set the checkbox, because it's the only thing that makes sense. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

I agree that it makes absolutely no sense. I can see why in the specified cases within the Slip case thread, but certainly not in this one. | | | HDTV: 52" Toshiba Regza 52XV545U AVR: Onkyo TR-707 Speakers: Paradigm Monitor 7 v6, CC-190 & Atom Monitors Subwoofer: Definitive Technology ProSub 800 BD/DVD: Oppo BDP-93 (Region Free) HD PVR: Motorola DXC3400 500GB w/ 1TB Expander BD/DVD/Game: 250GB PS3 Slim DVD/Game: 250GB XBox 360 Elite Special Edition (Black) Game: Wii Remote: Logitech Harmony One w/ PS3 Adapter WHS: Acer H341 Windows Home Server |

NO!!!!That is NOT what I am saying at all. It never says anywhere explicitly what you says it says. The thread is a great resource, and it does clear up a lot of questions. I'll walk you through it. 1) No mention was made to BD/DVD Combos 2) No mention was made of a child or slipcover during the keepcase example 3) Child and slipcovers are made in other packaging types, why was it excluded from the Keepcase example? 4) All Ken said was "All look correct. Thanks!" 5) Post was edited AFTER Ken made his comment. 6) DVD/BD combos were introduced years after this thread Please quote the part where it says what you say it says. You can't, because it's not there. I can see how you may reach the conclusion that you state, but it's through your own interpretation. If I am wrong please quote were it implicitly states it. You still haven't explained why you think this is a good rule, I'm really curious why you think the change you submitted is a good thing. | | | HDTV: 52" Toshiba Regza 52XV545U AVR: Onkyo TR-707 Speakers: Paradigm Monitor 7 v6, CC-190 & Atom Monitors Subwoofer: Definitive Technology ProSub 800 BD/DVD: Oppo BDP-93 (Region Free) HD PVR: Motorola DXC3400 500GB w/ 1TB Expander BD/DVD/Game: 250GB PS3 Slim DVD/Game: 250GB XBox 360 Elite Special Edition (Black) Game: Wii Remote: Logitech Harmony One w/ PS3 Adapter WHS: Acer H341 Windows Home Server |

| Posted: | | | | Hi The problem is if not checked, that the automatic Banner appears over the scan what looks odd over a Slipcover scan. Think on the thousand's of users who just use DVD Profiler, never read here, never vote, they just use it and for them it must be easy and fine without doing much manual things. The professionals who write here and make contributions often only think what they do so it is ok. But when you do things, think on all who know really nothing about contributions and how to do things to get it shown fine. I wasn't talking so much about the decision as the blantant lack of involvement of supporting the community when rule questions arise. You still have failed to state: 1) Why you agree with this 'rule' 2) Why this is a good thing for consistency in the database. 3) Where exactly your interpretation of this 'rule' is stated | | | HDTV: 52" Toshiba Regza 52XV545U AVR: Onkyo TR-707 Speakers: Paradigm Monitor 7 v6, CC-190 & Atom Monitors Subwoofer: Definitive Technology ProSub 800 BD/DVD: Oppo BDP-93 (Region Free) HD PVR: Motorola DXC3400 500GB w/ 1TB Expander BD/DVD/Game: 250GB PS3 Slim DVD/Game: 250GB XBox 360 Elite Special Edition (Black) Game: Wii Remote: Logitech Harmony One w/ PS3 Adapter WHS: Acer H341 Windows Home Server |

When was 35% of the people equivalent to many? when it is the same 35% of people who want it there way and couldn't care less what the other 65% think. welcome to the Democratic state of DVDP. 1% win again. |

I'm a little late to this party, but I have to agree. While this makes sense for Box Sets that include cases inside of cases, this makes no sense for a single title release with an optional child profile. I also agree that the rule doesn't cover this particular case. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
