All,

I have a Sony 400 disk player and have built a numbered Microsoft database on all 400 slots in the DVD player.

Is it possible to upload my Microsoft Word data into DVD Profiler? It would sure be easier since I've already done the work albeit in a different format than DVD Profiler.

It looks like this.

11 Indiana Jones Bonus Features Blu-ray
12 Days of Thunder Blu-ray
13 Stranger Than Fiction Blu-ray
14 Hugo Blu-ray
15 Paris, Te Aime (I Love You) Blu-ray
16 Die Hard
17 Die Hard 2 Die Harder

Thanks,
Andy

No, the profiles in the database are based on UPC or Disc ID (which is found from entering the Disc into your DVD/BD drive)

There are for instance three different UPCs in the US for Days of Thunder, 19 worldwide (that are in the online db)

Each profile, may or may not be, a tad different, so when entering your movies in it's best if you use the UPCs  from the packaging.

A warm welcome to you, Andrewlcox.

Thanks for the reply. I am using my iPhone to scan the UPCs and it goes fast enough. I've already got 50 scanned.

I found it odd that Gran Torino, Quantum of Solace and another popular film was not recognized by its UPC.

I'm of course new to all of this and just searched by name and found one close to what I own.

Thanks again,
Andy

Every profile is contributed by the users. So if you have something that is a bit rarer, it might not be submitted yet. Here are the contribution rules if you'd like to try to submit them yourself. The biggie is all information must come from the disc or cover with very few exceptions (SRP or release date for example.) For questions, feel free to ask them. The contribution forum is usually pretty helpful, though there are a few parts people will disagree on.

Also, I'm not sure where you're from, but locality will make a difference depending on how many users there are, and how many contribute. So if you're in the US, there are a lot of contributors. A smaller country will have less.

Hope this helps.

And just FYI here are some more tools:

Plugin BulkEdit - can import a text file formatted as CSV
Plugin LoadDVD - can play discs from a Sony 400 DVD Player and can also load a disc list

CSV format for BulkEdit (assuming you don't have UPCs)

Location, Slot, Title, MediaType
CX995V1, 11, Indiana Jones Bonus Features, Blu-ray
CX995V1, 12, Days of Thunder, Blu-ray
CX995V1, 13, Stranger Than Fiction, Blu-ray
CX995V1, 14, Hugo, Blu-ray
CX995V1, 15, Paris, Te Aime (I Love You), Blu-ray
CX995V1, 16, Die Hard, DVD
CX995V1, 17, Die Hard 2 Die Harder, DVD

If you do this, you will get "Manual Profiles" that need to be manually updated with a "Change UPC" command in DVD Profiler. A bit of work, but an option that you may choose.

LoadDVD also handles CX960V, CX777ES and CX7000ES - not sure which one you have. You can use IR, RS232 or IP to select the DVD, depending on the model. See the LoadDVD thread for access to a complete User Guide with examples.

If you just continue with what you are doing, then you can create a text file list of Profile IDs (UPCs) by saving a Flag Set, or you can create a CSV file with ProfileIDs and Title, using the CSV Export plugin, that you can update with the Location and Slot information. LoadDVD can then import that file and set the Location and Slot values for you, so that you can 1-click play your DVDs from DVD Profiler.

Have fun!
Thanks for your support.
