I am a long time DVD Profiler user and have over 3000 movies in the system from my personal collection.  I use the tool almost daily and have made customizations to really make it my own.  It is an amazing tool.

While I continue to enjoy having and will continue to purchase a hardcopy of DVDs/BRs over the last year I have began searching out the ones that contain Cloud options (Ultraviolet) and checking my collection to add past purchases.  I currently have around 300 Cloud edition movies.

Personally I use VUDU and I have a few in Disney that won't transfer over.

Very simply I would like to request the ability to create a hyper link in the Notes Section of the Personal Information Column.  I think this would be extremely beneficial for a lot of people for different reasons.  Personally I would create a direct link to the individual VUDU page for the movies I own and be able to access those specific films directly from DVD Profiler with the hope of adding more.

Very simply, can we please have the ability to create a hyperlink in the notes section.

Thank you

<a href="http://put.your-url-here.com" target="blank">Click here for your movie</a>

And use HTML for notes. (Tools/Options/Display)

I think you could turn personal info over to HTML.

Would that work?

The My Links capability has been recently added to DVDP for the very purpose you describe. It is seperate from Notes and would not be affected by any Notes settings.

You can also use HTML sections, which are customized web pages that you design to do whatever you want, e.g. loading or pointing to external URLs.

You can also use the LoadDVD plugin.

Lots of options in DVDP for handling hyperlinks..

However, I think it will take more than a hyperlink to access VUDU / Ultraviolet. If you figure out how to do this, please let me know. I think you need some kind of API. LoadDVD used to use an API to play Netflix movies until they disabled the API.

But any of the methods I mentioned above can used to play URL (usually Flash) based media such as Youtube, or you can load media from personal network or personal "cloud."

@jblack55,

Thanks for taking the time to send me a PM. So nice to have someone follow thru with helpful ideas.

What I usually try to do in my plugin is to go the whole route - where a click on an icon actually plays the media, and that is what you cannot do with simply loading the VUDU URL. But you got me thinking. LoadDVD Pro has its own internal web browser, and that is how I manipulate flash URLs such as YouTube, and how I used to play Netflix videos directly.

I'm thinking about trying the same for VUDU. It will require parsing the HTML, recognizing that the user is in fact logged in externally already (so cookies will be set - there is no API for me to do the sign-on for you), then find the "Watch" button (not easy because they use server side rendering, so you can't find the text "Watch"), then press the button, then maximize internal browser so the movie displays on your screen.

Thanks for providing the idea spark. Maybe someday I will try it out.
