What is the right way for adding information about extras like an alternative ending (e.g. for the "Smaragdgrün" blu-ray, 4010324041463) or even an alternative cut on the same disc (e.g. "Salt" or "Suicide Squad", both also have an extended cut)?

Currently the only kind of fitting thing is the "additional information" text box because "deleted scenes" or "outtakes" don't seem right for alternative endings/cuts but you can't look for movies with alternative somethings like that.

Are there any plans to add additional feature checkboxes for alternative ...?

For the extra of alternate endings you use deleted scenes check box per rules...

Rules Quote:
Quote:
Deleted Scenes Deleted Scenes, Alternate Scenes, Alternate endings available through a separate menu option, and not incorporated into the main feature or a documentary.

You can familiarize all the rules for contributions here...

Sorry, must have overlooked that part. This only works if there's an extra menu option for just the alternative ending though. What about actual full alternative versions of the same movie on the same disc like there are for e.g. "Salt" and "Suicide Squad"?
In the profile of my "Salt" DVD the alternative version only gets mentioned in the text field but, like I said, you can't search for movies with both the cinema and extended cut on the the same disc like that.

Mentioning it in other features is the only way I know of that we have to do it at this time.

Only Ken knows the answer to this question, but you might try making a post in the Feature Requests forum.

deleted scenes means deleted scenes. an alternate ending is an alternate ending. it is not deleted, just different and available through a separate menu option.

but I know ... the rules ...

I don't see any difference between a deleted scene and an alternate scene (whether it is an ending or any other scene)... either way it is a scene that didn't make it into the final film. In my eyes it is 2 different ways to say the same thing.

I don't believe there is a difference when they're found under Deleted Scenes or something similar.  But when the entire movie is repeated with the alternate ending, you now have 2 different versions, not simply deleted scenes.

I fully agree with Emmeli, deleted scenes and alternative ones aren't the same thing:
Usually you can add deleted scenes back into the movie without messing up the main story line too much but it also makes the movie longer and creates some kind of extended cut if they actually get integrated in the movie.
But you have to replace a scene with its alternative counterpart to still have everything make sense and even then it doesn't always. Alternative versions can also change the whole movie without adding much in length.

If there's just a single menu item "Deleted Scenes" but it also includes alternative ones, it's one thing but if there's a seperate choice to only watch the alternative stuff, they shouldn't be thrown into the same pot in my opinion.

I'll try and make a suggestion in the "Feature Request" subforum.
