I tell you! Anything to distract from the point that Transformers on HD DVD could NOT contain a lossless soundtrack. That's pretty sad. We are talking about a format that's suppose to last a DECADE or more. ...................................................................................
Did you read the article? Because your comments are out of context. I read your post before I read the article then I came back and read your post again. I don't see how your comments apply. Is it possible for anyone to say something that may not agree with you without them being wrong? I think you are way off base if that's all you got out of it.
The author really made some excellent points. He did seem to be in favor of HD-DVD, but that has notihng to do with his post.
Good specs do not ALWAYS equate to quality.
OH well seems that posting here is almost a waste of time. But keep posting these types of links Mark H because every now and then I find a good post and that makes all the other crap worth while. It's nice to read something that isn't propaganda or just a bunch of random stats compiled to form some sort of statement. I got those things from the post. To sum it up, it was basically a HD DVD is good enough speech in somewhat neutral clothing. If most people would have said that's "good enough", there would be no Superbit DVDs or dual layer DVDs (aka DVD9). Those are improvements over the standard DVD versions. "Good enough" is NOT good enough. It was already widely known that higher specs don't ALWAYS equate to quality, but it does A LOT of the time. That's what Josh is trying to keep people from thinking about. You said, "he did seem like he was in favor of HD DVD, but it had nothing to do with his post." Then, why did you think he was in favor of HD DVD, if it wasn't indicated through you reading his post? Posting here IS almost a waste of time. I know you understand that propaganda can be true or false. At least, I'm posting facts when I'm not responding to personal attacks or misleading information. All one needs to do is LOOK IT UP. Josh just wrote a blog that attempted to divert the attention away from the issues of HD DVD not having room for some titles already and what that means for it's future. I guess his Jedi mind trick work the way he wanted it to (at least on several people here). | | | To err is human... ----------- 473 Blu-ray Titles |

Dialnorm is a meta data flag that instructs the decoder to attenuate overall volume level and by how much. It does not alter the audio content AT ALL. If your amp is set to volume setting x, and a TrueHD track uses -4db dialnorm, if you turn your amp up by 4db to x + 4db, it is exactly the same as playing the LPCM track at x db. Dude, if you normalize the dialog (for example: -4db), and the rest of the track is the same (0db...how do you figure a simple volume change will make EVERYTHING 0db? That doesn't make ANY sense. It's just that simple. Lots of people could tell there was something different about a lot of the earlier TrueHD tracks (actually, Sony is the only studio that is committed to turning dialog normalization OFF). We just didn't know how to quantify those differences, since we didn't see the encoding process. Now, we know what that difference is, finally. | | | To err is human... ----------- 473 Blu-ray Titles | | | Last edited: by Ascended_Saiyan |

I told you, this jerk is nothing but a Sony plant who knows nothing regarding the subject matter of this thread. His sole purpose is to inundate this thread with Sony propaganda that he cuts & pastes from various & sundry 3rd party sources and then ridicules those that have the audacity to contradict him. Why anyone continues to try and dialogue with him is beyond me . | | | My WebGenDVD online Collection |

| Posted: | | | | Anyone who DOES NOT have both formats set up in their media room is not a creditable source for comparisons. If you are having to do research to find out if a title has good picture quality and sound quality, or be told, you might as well stick with regular DVD. |

| Posted: | | | | Warner Bros. made some VERY INTERESTING statements RECENTLY. Quote: Also there was Dan Silverberg, VP of high-definition media for Warner Home Video, which since Paramount’s move to the HD DVD camp is the only studio to support both next-generation formats.
That may not be for long, Silverberg said. “One thing that may be changing is our strategy,” he said. “When both formats launched and hardware prices were high, we made a decision to support both formats and let the consumer decide. But now that hardware pricing is affordable for both Blu-ray and HD DVD, it appears consumers no longer want to decide — so the notion of staying in two formats for the duration is something we are re-evaluating now that we are in the fourth quarter.”
Silverberg noted that Warner has the top-selling Blu-ray title of all time with 300 and is consistently No. 1 or No. 2 in both Blu-ray sales market share and in number of Blu-ray titles in the market.
“We can definitely talk Blu-ray,” he said. “We are committed to the format.” Couple that with the Weinstein Company not releasing any more titles on HD DVD, the possibility of Universal going neutral, and the likelihood of Warner Bros. going Blu-ray exclusive around CES 2008; you have a good good formula for Blu-ray. It might be game over for HD DVD after the 4th quarter. Is $169 HD DVD player a good amount to spend for about 4+ months of usage? | | | To err is human... ----------- 473 Blu-ray Titles |

To further enhance the viewing experience, the DMP-BD30 also provides 1080/24p playback, so the consumer can enjoy the same 24-fps (frames per second) reproduction as the original movie. This eliminates the need to utilize 3.2 pull down, a process to convert 24-fps images to 60-fps, resulting in a smoother picture. | Posted: | | | | Fox Plans Profile 1.1 'Sunshine' Blu-ray For Q1 2008
As Fox's first announced Profile 1.1 title, 'Sunshine' seems poised to be most technologically advanced Blu-ray release yet. Not only will the disc feature a dual-stream picture-in-picture commentary (which the studio is dubbing "enhanced viewing mode"), but it will also include a first-ever "surround sound mixing" feature.
Note that these two features will only be accessible via Profile 1.1 compliant players, but Fox says the disc itself (and all other supplements) will be compatible with all Blu-ray players.
Other planned features include multiple audio commentaries, a video diary, featurettes, a subtitle fact track, a searchable content index, and a D-Box enhanced audio track.
Tech specs include a 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 transfer, plus DTS-HD Master Audio. The studio has set a list price of $39.98.
'I, Robot' Blu-ray Delayed; New Features Promised
Fans of 'I, Robot' will have to wait a few more months for the Will Smith flick to hit Blu-ray, but Fox says they'll be rewarded for their patience.
Although it had been scheduled to hit Blu-ray on November 13, rumors of a possible delay had been circulating for the last month. On Monday, Fox confirmed a street date bump for the title until sometime in the first half of 2008, attributing the delay to the addition of new content.
Among the features now planned for the BD-50 disc are several audio commentaries, a an annotated fact track, a searchable content index, a D-Box enhanced audio track, and a series of "Behind the Camera" featurettes, which will be delivered via seamless branching.
Additionally, the studio is promising a new "dual-menu navigation system" for the title, which it says will allow for easier access to the disc's bonus features.
Other tech specs will include the studio's standard 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 transfer, plus DTS-HD Master Audio.
Needless to say, we'll let you know as soon as Fox announces a new street date for 'I, Robot.'
