I prefer traditional classic films myself. Of those available to vote on, I voted for It's a Wonderful Life.

In my opinion, the 1938 version of A Chrsitmas Carol is superior to the others. Watch it if you get a chance.

I agree with you.  I think the 1938 version is the best.  Although all versions have something to recommend them, even the 1935 version starring Seymour Hicks which is on dvd as an extra on the two disc 1951 vcersion.

I voted for Miracle on 34th Street (1947) because it is a movie about Christmas.  I didn't vote for It's a Wonderful Life, which I like more than "Miracle", because it isn't a Christmas movie.  It only partially takes place during Christmas.

No Holiday Inn (Musical 1942)? For shame. Bing Crosby, Fred Astaire, the music of Irving Berlin (its where White Christmas was first sung by Bing). That would be my pick. And what about Scrooge (AKA A Christmas Carol in North America) with the great Alistair Sim from 1951? The absolute greatest adaptation of Charles Dickens' Christmas classic.

I did include A Christmas Carol from 1951,, is that not the Alistair  Sim??

and I agree with you about the absence of some of the other Holiday favourites.. ( Muppet Christmas Carol ? et all..),, but thought I'd keep the list to a total of 12 (for the 12 days of Christmas) ..

Thanks for your vote for the '51 version.., some asked why the 38 version isn't included here.,
I believe I overlooked it, because that film seems to be an overall poor version of A Christmas Carol.

I truly believe this literary Classic story is simply the Best Literature ever devised by an Author..

Thank-you Charles Dickens.

I find Santa's Slay to be a great romp for the family holidays.

Here I was going to bring up Santa's Slay and you beat me to it.  I am glad I am not the only one that finds this as a fun Christmas movie.

Nice to see Scrooged coming in at number 3 thus far, that one gets funnier every time I watch it.

I likewise agree that The Polar Express also deserves to be a contender.

I think that it might be more correct to say that most from the US (and obviously at least some from Canada) prefer the Alistair Sim performance. Reginald Owen's Scrooge is the better performance for me but I accept that views will differ. I would rate both versions ahead of many other films on your list however.

But you could have made it 52 (for the weeks in a year) or even better 365
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

Yes, a true classic. That would have gotten a vote from me.

As someone who gets conned into playing Santa on Christmas eve, I voted for 'Miracle on 34th Street' (1947)

I have 47 movies and 62 TV series or min-series that list Christmas in their description. Almost all the older US TV series played at Christmas time has Christmas theme episode.

Two of my favorites were not on the list...

Holiday Inn
Christmas in Connecticut

Of those on the list I chose White Christmas.  It's a Wonderful Life was a close second for me.

I'm not a fan of traditional Christmas movies myself. My favourites are Trading Places, Die Hard and Lethal Weapon. Other good ones are Gremlins, Long Kiss Goodnight and The Holiday. Although that last one is borderline traditional.

Same here; I think Die Hard came very high up in a recent poll of Christmas Movies actually!
