Prove BD-J doesn't work.

You said yourself the PIP part of it doesn't work, and even after the supposed Oct. 31 update, older players still won't be able to play it.  HD DVD has been able to do this since Day One.

Everything that has been implemented works.  At this time, that is BD-J 1.0.  But, like I said before, I have 3 titles that take advantage of PiP (Crank, Dragon's Lair, and Descent).  That tells me the PiP could be on Blu-ray without implementing BD-J 1.1.  It's up to the studios to do the work.

Plus, HD DVD did have PiP from day one, but it's not complete either.  A proper implementation on PiP (according to the specs on both sides) is to be able to decode two HD video streams.  No HD DVD player can properly fulfill that task.  The processors are not fast enough to handle that on either side (except the PS3 and maybe the Pioneer Elite).  Only a new set of HD DVD players would be able to do that.  That's part of the reason the BDA has not implemented BD-J 1.1.  Another reason BD-J 1.1 players were not implemented from the beginning would be the addition cost.

The BDA was able to get costs down to the point where the Samsung BD-P1200 can be had for $499 + S&H.  That's one of the top of the line BD players!  After July 1, any BD player bought will be a mail-in offer of 5 FREE Blu-ray movies.  That offer even covers the PS3!

If you buy the Panasonic BD player for $599, you get 10 FREE Blu-ray movies (5 packaged with the player and 5 on the mail-in offer).

The Toshiba HD-XA2 is sold (at that same store) for $599.  And the Samsung BD player has more features.  Plus, it outputs at 1080p/24Hz.  That's something NO HD DVD player can currently do.

Timing these things out works well for the BDA and keeps costs down for consumers.  The initial cost advantage of a HD DVD player is fast disappearing and the Chinese BD players are on the way.

Let me repeat what I said before.

Ya know what dude?  I'm a big fan of Blu-Ray. If I have to chose between a movie in Blu-Ray or HD-DVD, I will always pick Blu-Ray.

But your condescending tone and arrogance would have pushed me towards HD-DVD if I hadn't already made my choice because my dislike of you would have started to rub off onto the Blu-Ray format.

My point: You're trying to convince everyone that your way is the right way and everyone who goes against your views is wrong (putting it lightly, you used stronger words).  In doing so, you're having the opposite effect than what you are trying to do - instead of bringing people to your side, you're pushing them away.

Do you understand my point now?

That's what I thought.  I answered that with the last 7 sentences of my post.

How old are you Ascended? Are you a child? My 4 year old nephew has the same type of reasoning and mind set that you do. He is adament when making a point and says because I said so all the time. Just like you do with this Blu Ray crap that you are force feeding down out throats. Does your mommy know you are on the computer?

Please Please Please...  Leave the marketing of Blu Ray to the big people in the suits and go outside and play in traffic like a nice little boy.

So, I guess your 4 year old nephew is right and the people talking around him are incorrect, right?  I guess those people try to keep making irrational points and can't back in up with facts, right?  I guess your nephews view point has been seen as correct by the majority of people participating in the discussion at large, right?

If that's the case, you have a great nephew there!  If that's not the case, even your example isn't accurate.

Yea, no you didn't.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

You still don't get it.

Your last 7 sentences answers only one thing - you're a troll.

Like any other living thing, trolls will die if they're not fed.  I used to think someone had to counter his outrageous claims.  Then I realized that he's turned himself into a complete joke and pretty much NO ONE takes him seriously.  I remember 1 person at the old site cheered him on for a page or two and then disappeared.  Even Blu-ray fans here won't get behind him.

I now look upon his posts as short little comedy skits (short on the comedy of course).  Start ignoring him.  It's a very relaxing way to browse the forum.

Kind of like the sketches on the last 15-30 minutes of SNL?
If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.

Wonder when titles like this one and The Godfather will be released?

I guess Spielberg still has a say in this somehow, because wasn't that the reason why it took so long before it actually got to DVD?

Something occurred to me earlier today.  A_S is really a die-hard HD-DVD fan!  It seems so clear now - how he pushes Blu-Ray with such fevered intensity, it's to push people towards the HD-DVD format!

Sneaky little human.

If so..he is doing a great job, I came within a **** hair of buying an HD DVD player on the weekend. I barely managed to talk myself out of it...but I still want to wait for a nicely priced hybrid player.

Since some people here don't pay attention to facts or logic, I would prefer them to lose their money on HD DVD.  The best lessons are the hard ones.  Like I said, I'm not the one throwing money on a technology that's doomed to fail (for reasons they aren't ready to acknowledge).

To make my last 7 sentences (mainly the first sentence of the second paragraph) clear, it is not my intention to convince anyone to do anything.  I'm just presenting the facts that HD DVD fanboys are so afraid of (that's why they feel the need to make personal attacks...eventually resulting in my attacking right back).

People make their own decisions.  I just present the information, so you can't say you made an uninformed decision.  Emotional decisions are usually the wrong decisions...period.  Some people can't understand that or don't want to understand that.

So, please go out and buy HD DVD players.  Go buy 1 or 2 for every room in your place.  Nothing would please me more!
