Any tips as to where HD-DVD's can still be bought at rock-bottom prices?
Only got 15 sofar and I wouldnt want to put my XbOX HD-DVD Addon to waste :-)

I cannot really seem to find anything on the usual sites anymore. Lots of the orders a few months ago were cancelled aswell..

Lets not forget that "craigslist.com" is also a great place to find some HD DVD's.  I know I have been lucky and purchsed some for about 4-5 bucks a pop...... Lower then the Fry's price locally for me.

You are right.. I think that ship has sailed. There are a few titles for around $4-$5 on amazon.com.. but you really have to look for them

There are still quite a few titles on eBay for $6-9 a throw, which isn't too bad (especially for the combos).  Harder to find titles will still run you $20 to 30.  The Harry Potter box set is still pretty high, though I don't think too many of those were made; the single volumes will go cheaper.

Want some brand new HD-DVDs for 3.99? Try inetvideo.com. (I know, I sound like an advertisement for them)

I've used them a couple times now as have my sons. A couple of the HD DVD one of my sons received had a french overview (the company is in Canada) but other than that I am happy as are they. Probably have close to a dozen orders between the three of us with no problems.

Watch for shipping... it's not free all the time. Right now they are running the free shipping on orders over $49.00. Also take note some of the titles say "USED" by them. Haven't ordered these. I stick with the NEW ones.

There was a new release though "Death Proof" on HD-DVD.

It was released in Germany. (It was scheduled for June but by contract they had to wait until Weinstein released it domestically. And since they changed formats back then it took'em a while).

You can order it for 8.99€ on amazon.de... I would take 3. It's sure to become a collector's item. The last HD-DVD ever released. Release Date 12/15/2008.

It has DTS HD Sound in both English and German and is uncut.

There was even a recent review of that title in High Def Digest. and it's still a lot cheaper than buying the Blu Ray Version. Also it looks better as it is a solid steelbook Edition:

BTW.. I now have the exact same number of HD's as I do BD's.. which is 173.. Funny.. I thought it would take me a lot longer to overtake my HD Titles. But I rarely find anything worth buying anymore. Seems I really got everything I want. And the rest is too damned expenisve. I don't see why I should pay about $15-$20 more for a title on HD-DVD than I don for the BD.. (That's often the case with WB Titles on amazon.com)

That is very cool, and I'd be all over it like a duck on a junebug!  Plus, there's a certain amount of revenge factor in there because I'm still pissed at the way Sony bought off everybody to get their way in the high def war.

I heard about that before. I really don't see how they wanna get more out of DVD Content that a good upscaling DVD Player already can. They should rather produce one HD-DVD Player so that the hundreds of thousands of people who still own HD-DVD's can buy something if their player breaks.

Also this technology is supposed to cost about $150. You can get a good Blu Ray Player for about $250. And in the US the prices for regular DVD's and Blu Rays are already pretty darn close.

So I really see no future in that new toshiba venture

A hundred bucks is a hundred bucks, and I've got better places to spend it.  Besides, you still have to buy the BD format discs.  I also wouldn't call a $5-$10 higher price for BD titles "close" to regular DVD prices.  The lowest I've seen a BD title for at Walmart is $25, and the same titles in regular format are frequently priced as low as $15 on "release" day.  I also doubt that I will be able to find many of the great old movies from the 30's, 40's, and 50's on BD.  For example, I just picked up a box set of all six of the Thin Man movies (plus a bonus documentary disc on Nick and Nora) for just $28.  That would've cost well over $100 in BD at current rates.

I have a rather small collection of DVDs compared to some in here (only a bit over 1200) but I can't afford -- nor do I want -- to change formats.  This Toshiba thing sounds great to me.

Toshiba made great HD DVD players but they are just acting plain silly now. If they want to save some face they should put their efforts on a really good HD/BD combo player, like the hard to find LG BH200.

Exactly. Not to mention that every respectable BluRay-Player does upscaling nowadays. So, if they don't employ black magic, I'm absolutely not sure what additional advantages XDE could offer.
