How many times do I need to concede that SP is technically not allowed?
I think I got it now.

But neither is "Created By" or "Theme By" or any number of others that those who are arguing against SP are putting into the main database on a regular basis.  Everybody interprets the crew Rules the way they personally want to.

At least I don't, but I grant you that I might be quite alone here. I enter "Art Directors" though.

The current system and Rule needs a complete overhaul....and yes I mean overhaul, not tweaking.

Here I agree completely. The rules are (at least) ambiguous in many points (as the recent discussion shows). But as long as we don't get any other rules we'd have to live with them.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

Ok....have I missed something else???

I didn't think Created by was allowed at all?

If it is and I've missed another 'forum consensus' I refuse to adhere to any more forum decisions.

How in the hell can we expect users who have more sense than to come in here to know all these so-called 'rules'? It's not practical!

So as far as I am concerned I will stick to the rules - which means none of the following will be entered and I will remove them when I see them: Dubbing Editors and Dubbing Mixers (UK titles), Theme By etc, etc.
(Only half serious about removing anything!!)

This 'forum consensus' rubbish is getting totally out of hand and until I hear from Ken that the forum has ANY power at all I think I'll just ignore the whole thing and report anyone that votes NO on a contribution that adheres to the rules as they currently stand!!

If it is rubish to you, start removing half the crew and cast data from foreign movies with foreign credits like:
Belgian movies (French or Dutch credits)
Dutch movies  (Dutch credits)
French movies (French credits)
German (German credits)
Italian (Italain credits)
Asian (Asian languages credits)
... (Klingon, ... credits)
Sources for one or more of the changes and/or additions were not submitted. Please include the sources for your changes in the contribution notes, especially for cast and crew additions.

For what it's worth, I didn't think it was allowed either. I used to enter it until something/someone convinced me it was wrong (I don't want to mention any names in case I remember incorrectly)

There is no consensus that I am aware of.  Someone did, however, put forth an argument which would allow this credit to be entered under OMB.

This is the other MAJOR problem with the crew chart...it is R1 centric.  Allowances have to be made for equivalent crew positions from other regions.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.

Which is really funny since it was originally designed by someone in R2  (who BTW has said he agrees the chart is in desperate need of change and clarification by Ken.)

I had heard that before, and when I did I was quite  .

I really hope, once this beta cycle is complete, that Ken has a little time to fix this problem.  If those of us with the "sickness not shared by most mere mortals," can't work this out, how can we expect the mere mortals to do it?

I don't think it's R1 centric. It's more Hollywood centric. The credits are the same regardless of what region the DVD is released in.

You are, of course, correct...and that is what I meant.  Some of us have taken to using the region codes to identify the area the film was made in as well.  Sorry for the confusion.

Looks like the "super majority" status has been lost (30 yes; 44 no).

LOL, it is still a very sizable majority, Hal. And I would certainly call it a consensus.. But then i am not the one running around claiming  that the origfinal poll resultys were not a consensus.

I'm not going to enter this discussion, but I will say that where I live no one would call this a consensus.

That's because in German based languages "Consensus" is understood as "to be of one mind about something", whereas in the English language "consensus" is mostly understood as the "majority of opinion".

Consensus, majority, whatever.... The one thing that is clear regarding this issue is the community is divided. Only the great and powerful Ken can resolve this.
