Is it possible to disable uploading when you want to add a new DVD to your collection and you have more that 50 DVDs and so aren't able to use this feature?

The wait while uploading takes place then to be told you don't have this feature can be bit of a pain - specially when you already know this

If you already know this, then why keep trying?

because when you add a new DVD to your collection it automatically tries to upload - i have checked all options and i can't see how to stop this

does your not do it?  .. of course you wouldn't know if you're registered

Getting registered is the solution. You can't expect to keep your collection below 50 DVDs for ever.

But joking aside, I am not aware of any attempts to upload something automatically. Are these DVDs you added yourself, or ones you got from the database?

If you add a new profile to your local database and save it, the application will ask you if you want to contribute it to the main database. I think the choice of words confused Hans, as "uploading the collection" refers to the My Profiler function.

I would agree that that "feature" should be disabled for users without paid registration; it can be annoying as it is, but if you know you can't even use it if you wanted to, it must be doubly so.

It takes one mouse click to disable it. So it doesn't need to be  disabled by default.

Now you have me confused... I was explaining, not suggesting.

When exactly do you get the message you were asking to get disabled...?

My son uses the same  DVD profiler of which I purchased, and he lives downstairs, uses my IP wirelessly and does not Upload his collection to the Profiler site. he just downloads his titles and I upload/download my titles to the site plus I contribute etc., He does not .
He is only interested in using the program to keep his 120 titles up to date and with better resolution , thanks to Profiler 3.3 of which there is just one Key being shared.

What was happening was whenever i wanted to add a new DVD to my collection the program opened a window - a progress bar appeared which progressed - then a text block would come up saying i have more than 50 titles in my collection and i am an unregistered user so this feature is not available - the normal add new DVD window would appear and i could add my new DVD

i did a re-install of the program and what happens now is when i go to add a new DVD a window appears, some text says something about downloading my online profile (not enough time to read all it says - and it doesn't appear everytime i try to add a new DVD, maybe it only appears once a day?) then the normal add a new DVD window appears

i now understand your original suggestion - it was relating to during the process of adding a new DVD - but what was happening to me was happening when i commenced the add new DVD process, not during or after the process

hopefully i have explained it a bit more clearly now. I'll have to wait til tomorrow to see if i can read all the text that relates to downloading something or other

anyway fingers crossed that it doesn't try uploading my profile anymore  ... it just downloads it now

That reads a bit weird... There musdt have been something wrong, hopefully resolved by the reinstall.

dddp, that is the download of the "online profile list". This required for everyone, as it includes the Titles, UPCs and some other information from the online database.

If that doesn't work you would have a problem that needs resolving!

I really don't understand what you are trying to do.

The uploading of your collection is done via ONline/DVD Profiler/Online - and is something you would need to select yourself since its never done by default.

And yes. if you have over 50 dvds then don't bother and try uploading.

nevermind, it's working normally now after the reinstal - thanks for your input
