A slipCASE is a distinct physical object that has specific characteristics, same thing with a slipCOVER.  People are using them interchangeably with Ken's blessing because of how he defined some things.  That simply isn't right, and there is no way you can justify it.

*yawn*
What super authoritative dictionary are you using that you keep on bashing on the alleged semantics of these two words ?

I'm not blind, I can see there is a physical difference not only in construction, but in method of use.  Simple logic tells me that.  Words mean things, and I prefer using them for their proper meaning.  Of course, if you would rather be sloppy and inaccurate, go for it -- but don't expect an "atta boy" from me for doing so whether Ken signed off on it or not.

Now give it rest and stop stomping your feet

YOUR interpretation of the terms IS NOT that which Ken applies. That's ok, you're entitled to your own opinion and POV on things, but regarding DVDP, if they differ from the POV and definitions set forth by Ken KEEP THEM LOCAL and stop your whining.

What really amazes me is that you're usually very easy to shrug off other's ideas that differ from the rules or the statements made by Ken with just the approach outlined above, but absolutely fail to do so if your personal interpretation differs from what Ken obviously wants.

This issue is settled, and it's been settled by Ken, and with a definition that's easy to understand and follow through. So live with it and obey if you want to contribute case types, or simply keep YOUR data to yourself and refrain from submitting this field. It's so easy....

My biggest problem is the idea of TWO definitions for the same thing. But I guess he is in essence ignoring the outer package.

It's amazing how the "Where Ken leads, we follow" mantra disappears when he leads in directions that some people don't like.

Get over it!  Ken has defined the use of Slip Case versus Slip Cover.

Whether you like it or not is irrelevant!

Whether it aligns with your perceptions or not is irrelevant!

Whether you think it's inconsistent or not is irrelevant!

Whether you think it's contrary to "your definition" of the "words" or not is irrelevant!

Whether you think he is using the term for two different things or not is irrelevant!

Whether you think he is calling the same thing by two different terms or not is irrelevant!

Get it?  What you think is irrelevant!

The only thing that is relevant is what Ken has defined as a Slip Case and a Slip Cover!

Let's move on!

What don't you comprehend, hal, though I realize it is limited in scope. Did i say i did not like it. I believe what I have said is that it seems inconsistent and attempts to provide two two separate definitons to the same thing depending....

I am trying to wrap my brain around it and stupid and insulting remarks such as yours are not helpful in that regard. Even though I completely realize that YOU will talke whatever imagined opportunity you can crate to launch yet another personal attack on me. Disappointed but not surprised, too bad to. I have a good idea for you , Hal, since you have but one purpose in life, it seems, and that is not positive why not just stop posting altogether. I repeat I am trying to understand this...NOTHING more.

I don't have to justify it and, as far as Profiler goes, it IS right.  This is Ken's program.  He has the final say as to how these are going to be handled.  Now that he has made his wishes known, it is rather simple to figure out when to use which case type.

Do I agree with Ken?  No, but it isn't my program.  I will do it the way he has asked me to do it.

He is not ignoring the outer package completely.  He is just using the contents to define what it is called.  Have I wrapped my brain around his reasoning?  No, but that is besides the point...at least for me.  I don't need to understand why Ken made this decision.

Ken has decided that, for cardboard sleeves with at least one opening, when it contains one case it is to be called a Slip Cover.  If it contains two or more cases it is to be called a Slip Case.

Please don't confuse acceptance with understanding.  I understand, and accept, how he wants it done, I don't fully understand why.

I have bought "The Prisoner" it is a Slip Cover/Case containing one Keep Case holding the seven disc's and a book "The Prisoner: A complete Production guide" so is the case type
Keep Case/Slip Cover or Slip Case?
I'm leaning towards Keep Case/Slip Cover myself as there is only one other case type inside the outer cover but because there are two "items" inside the cover i can't get ride of the niggling little voice in the back of my head saying maybe it is Slip Case?
