This is my initial post here. I have d/l and tried the demo and have one major question and one comment. I have a large DVD collection that contains numerous duplicate copies (INTENTIONALLY - these are usually OOP or very hard to find copies and are the most valuable in the collection). I cannot find a way to add multiple/duplicate copies (same exact DVD). Did not find any reference to this anywhere on this site or in the help files. My question is "how do I do this?"

This leads to my comment. I am weighing DVDProfiler, Collectorz.com Movie Collector, and MediaMan. I will purchase one of them. Price is not the issue. Support and feature set - those are the important issues for me. While DVDProfiler appears popular, I am seriously leery of any company that does not provide a telephone number, an address, or even an email link for information purposes. I have been through every page on this site, top to bottom. It almost seems like Invelos has gone out of its way to prevent potential customers from making contact with any representative of the actual company. The only way to get any information seems to be via this public forum. That type of support is usually associated primarily with freeware, not commercial products. If I have missed something, I would appreciate anyone letting me know where the "Contact Us" link is, that is referred to on the Support Page of this site. Thanks for any help.

To avoid getting disapointed over the service level, you will need to set your expectations according to the way Invelos operates, instead of simply thinking freeware/commercial products. If you do this you will find the service to be ok, but if you simply think "I paid for this I want to talk to people who can sort out my problems", then you will be disappointed.

The license is a one time 30$ fee. This fee will have to cover development cost (salary basically), time to perform screening of profiles (salary again), as well as bandwidth and server usage for years to come. I can't imagine this leaves much left, so if people start calling (and hence the person they talk to needs salary in the time it takes), that would pretty much mean that Invelos would loose money on that account.

You might prefer to pay more and get personal service, but that does not necessarely go for all of us, and I have personally never had any problem with the support at the level it is.

With regards to tracking multiple copies there is unfortunately no field specifically for this. Either use the notes, or create tags for it. The tags are on/of values only but do support a hirarchy allowing you to have a "parent" flag for multiple copies and then subflag for 2, 3, 4, 5 etc. While in no way perfect, it should be workable if you do not have too many copies.

Thank you for the responses. I tried using tags - but didn't really like the way it worked or partially worked. The loan management functions do not seem to work with items listed in this way. I can't believe I'm the only collector who jumps at the chance to acquire additional rare duplicates. I wish this app would allow adding them in a straightforward manner. The other 2 programs I am trying out, both provide for multiple copies of the same title, but the report/print functions are not as sophisticated (as DVDP). I will continue testing the programs for another week or so before I decide which one to buy.

You can make a duplicate of some kind, if you change the upc-code  (or locality) of the profile. Then you can have two or more similar profiles of the same movie which differ only in the changed part. Of course you must not submit such "hacked" profile to the central database.
