| | Posted: | | | | I've loked and looked for press releases myself, and I cannot find them. But I think the list of 3/25/1997 DVDs we've posted here that I got from the laserrot.com site is definitive. The page covers the entirety of 1997 and hasn't been updated since early 1998.
Someone should do a google search of alt.video.dvd for the term "March 25, 1997". You'll find people discussing the DVDs released on that date quite a bit, including the ones mentioned here.
I think there is more than enough evidence available to make the changes.
As opposed to most sites with databases where a CSV file with bad data could overwrite original good data, much like seems to have been the case with what's in the database here. | | | | Last edited: by nolesrule |

| | Posted: | | | | And I was following it from 1996 on (eventhough I did not get my first player until 1998), and I could recite the March 25, 1997 date from memory before this thread even got started. It's common knowledge for people who have been around DVD since the beginning.
It's unfortunate that all the best DVD news sites don't have archives going that far back. Most were using static webpages that were manually updated back then. | | | | Last edited: by nolesrule |

Can't get any better source then from the Manufacturers... And I got them... take a look if you don't believe me, i have updated all my information to give as much attention to detail as possible... I really can't see how even skip can not agree with this information , I provided to him exactly what he was asking for.... I guess the next step would be to raid the headquarters of MGM, WB, NewLine,& Columbia Tristar and force the Presidents of each to write a letter of approval for my contributions... Should I pack my bags for California?????  |

If you look at the March 97 release of GoldenEye (1995)., it shows the 1999 special edition and so does amazon.com as well.. The only area I could find the original Mar 97 art cover was our own data base for the 1997 release of Goldeneye it shows the original no frills pan&scan /widescreen . whereas my version of Goldeneye is a special edition and it was released Oct 1999 ... | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. | | Posted: | | | | The other problem with finding good weblinks is that there were no devoted sites at the time of launch. Digital Bits only goes back to December of '97. The rest of those early sites bit the dust. I remember a huge fansite during those early days was www.thebigpicture.com. Those guys got so hard up they started charging for access. Frankly, the only place this kind of news really got followed was on laserdisk sites, which were not exactly prolific. |

Unfortunately, the site no longer exists, and while I found it in the Wayback Machine archive, many of the links to press releases and other news sites are no longer functioning either. DVD Resource, a great site by Steve Tannehill didn't start till about the same time as The Digital Bits. |

Skip Yeah, it's always interesting what you can find there. Unfortunately, if a site relied on query strings in the URL from an internal search engine to pull up pages, it wasn't archived. |
