My notes mean precisely what they say...STRICTLY As Credited.

With the perpetual abuse that I get from many users, explain to me why I would be interested in investing MORE of my time than I already do to provide them with data for Aliases. They aren't worrth IT. Sorry guys, that is my view. 2-4 hours to build a profile from scratch is alkl i am willing to give you, I am NOT willing to provide anymore of more time...gratis, just to be abused, insulted, disrespected, baited and what have you.

My question was meant in general and not to disrespect you. Are we just to ignore the credit lookup and not bother with aliases? I do not have a large body of his work, but I'll check what I do have.

As an aside, his father, Pedro Armendáriz, is profiled with a number of his son's roles after his own death. Licence to Kill, Amistad, The Mexican, Zorro etc.

Back on topic, skip shared with me the source of my error.  It would appear at the end credits the actors initially are listed.  During this initial list the credit is with a comma.  Later, the cast is listed again, this time with roles.  In this second listing, Harry Carey is listed without a comma.  While I did take my entry from the end credits, it was the wrong portion of the credits sequence.  Frankly, I didn't stick around long enough to see a second listing.

I think this one falls under the heading of honest mistake, because that's just weird.  How often will a guy get listed twice in the end credits but with different punctuation each time?  It's just one of those things.  At least I haven't completely lost my mind.

As a result, I should pull the submission.

Yeah it is odd that there is a comma when it's just his name sans role, and later when they have the standard end credit roll there isn't one. When skip made his contribution that had the same error, I went and pulled my DVD out and saw that he's credited 2 different ways, but since we are supposed to use the end credit roll, I guess the comma stays out. No big deal IMO. What's really odd is that the other actor that is listed as Jr. (Pedro Armendariz, Jr.) has the comma in both places IIRC.

Agree. An honest mistake by a good submitter. I for one will continue to take you at your word mdnitoil as I always do on your submissions.

(wonder if I'll get another red pill for this post as I did for each of my last two posts in this thread.  )

I'll try to be more careful next time.  As I recall, I was going through about a dozen disks with Harry Carey in them trying to get all that sorted out.  As he is primarily a classic Hollywood actor, every film I checked had the very abbreviated credits common to older films.  Frankly, I thought it was a mistake that he was even in Tombstone.  I was so impressed to find that he was actually in the movie that I completely lost track of modern end credits.  I just spaced on it.

You always do a good job so that's why I waited for your response. I appreciate the effort you went through to sort this out.

If you will be so kind as to excuse me, I think I have damn good reason to be, as you put it, snippy. I am fed up with attitude of several users around here.

Some people, me included, accepted the contribution from a trusted user in good faith. Where's the "good reason" to be snippy? Who's the one with attitude...?

I agree, Gunnar.  If someone says he has validated the cast list from the actual film credits - and I have not personally done so myself -- I will vote yes.

I will add that I am shocked at the number of "informed" and argumentative user voting yes to a clear Rule violation.

I am shocked that you would make such a big deal out of this.  I didn't read your comment or see your scan when I voted.  I voted based on the contributor's notes.  Not everyone has as much time as you appear to have to check everything in a contribution before voting on it.  If I had that much time I wouldn't need to depend on someone else's contribution (yours included, Skip) because I would be doing the profiles 100% on my own.  And, once I have voted and the contribution disappears from the "pending" list, I seldom go back to review what I've voted on.  So how, pray tell, would I know that the initial contibution was wrong?  I don't think I'm alone in this, either.  I would guess that most of the "informed" users you refer to voted before you proved this to be an error.

So, in effect, all I need to get a contribution accepted around here is to say I took it from the end-credits?

Macaulay Culkin as Young Anakin Skywalker it is then...

And it wouldn't take long for us to find out someone has not told the truth about where he got the information.  And it's a whole lot easier to earn a good reputation than to atone from a bad one.

Right. I think a user tried that recently; didn't they? And we ran them out of town on a rail...
