It is an example skip.. no more then that. An example to show there could be a need for the common name for someone famous in this situation.

If he is credited as Richard Bachman... then it would be Stephen King (Richard Bachman) so that it links that profile with all his other profiles.

As I said.. there is possibilities where something like this can come up. and how I would handle it. I don't believe that Not adding at all is correct as long as it can be documented.

Where exactly did Martin propose to use IMDb for documentation?

He made no comments about Documentation, deejay. As for the rest I believe that I have stated and will restate that over LONG experience, Martin has taught me to be highly skeptical of his suggestions.

And that is fine... but as long as it is properly documented why can't it be added. what is confusing me is you said it can't at all...

OK, qualified not at all. How's that, Pete.  I don't want to close the door completely obviously but there has to be documentation and the more unknown the person the more documentation should be providied.

And I agree with that. I was just answering the question to the best of my ability with the info I had.. that is why I said multiple times as long as it can be documented.

OK, I was affraid this would happen. Nobody seems to understand the question.

Here's an example:

In the movie Face/Off we have an uncredited Helipcopter Pilot commonly named as Robert "Bobby Z" Zajonc ,
who is credited as an Aerial Coordinator in the Crew section by the name Bobby "Z" Zajonc, leading to two options;

  • Robert "Bobby Z" Zajonc as Helipcopter Pilot (uncredited)

  • Robert "Bobby Z" Zajonc [Bobby "Z" Zajonc] as Helipcopter Pilot (uncredited)

  • Of course the easiest way is not to look for his as credited name, but if you do find it I ask myself:
Would it not be better if we do add that name to the online database and so enhancing the credit lookup function?

My first question, Martin, BEFORE anything else is how do you KNOW that the guy which might be pictured in the film is the Aerial Coordinator. Have you done any comparison work with known images of him. <shrugs>  Bobby Z has been in the business a LOOONG time, Aerial Coordinator could be a ground based occupation. Like I said documentation. That has to be established BEFORE you worry about how to credit him.

Have you clicked on my link? I think not. It's the documentation he is both a Motion Picture Pilot and an Aerial Coordinator!

    Martin:

I would be a lot happier if he at least listed Face Off on HIS fil highlights page instead of the only resource being an IMDb link.

OK... so seems like I understood the question correctly. Except in this case his crew credit is not something we track (like in my example).

But I would still say... as I said above... as long as it is properly documented (and no I didn't check your link since I do not have said movie) I would just go with common name - Role (Uncredited)

The question is not if my example is OK, but if the online database would benefit of credited as names of uncredited cast members in the crew section. I think it will.

You better provide a timestamp in addition to the other "documentation".

    Otherwise its of little use.

Why would we credit Robert "Bobby Z" Zajonc as uncredited cast in Face/Off when me makes no screen appearance in the film? Granted, he may be flying one the helicopters but there is only one or two instances where a pilot's face is visible in one of the helicopters and it ain't Robert "Bobby Z" Zajonc.

Thank you for making my point, Randy.

Sometimes I think that some users get all carried with (uncredited) there is some silhouette in the Chopper in must be him, kind of thing. Just because someone made an (uncredited) in one or SOME films does not automatically qualify him for (uncredited) in every film he works on as part of the crew. If you can provide an identifiable time stamp where the persons's face is clearly seen, then don't enter the information, it doesn't qualify.

Sigh... Like I said, I am not claiming my example is OK (and I can not prove it is wrong either), because that's not the issue. It's the question I asked in my initial post of this topic.

It is an issue since you provided the example.

If on the other hand a credited crew member is visually verifiable as an uncredited cast member, then I have no problem with entering them in the cast list as uncredited as long as there is sufficient documentation to support their inclussion.

Yes, me neither but the question is how we should enter them if their as credited names are not equal to their common ones.
