I was just wondering what the 'approved' format was for episodic anime that is released in a boxset.

My personal opinion is that I would treat it as a TV series and have all the info in the parent/box profile as well as in the child profiles which would most likely be the same as the separate volumes already released and sold separately. However I've see it done a few different ways and wondered if there was some consensus.

Thanks.

Agreed, they are TV series and should be handled as such. I've met a few that want to deal with them diffrently and refuse to follow the rules

You have to remember Whispering, according to the TV series rules, adding the information to the parent profile is optional - unless of course you're saying they were voting "no" on adding it.
It's just your post gives the impression they were refusing to add it themselves which is their right.

What i ment was, some Anime folks want everything added their way, wether its parent or child is not the point, the point was how they add the information to either profile.

Not from what I read in the rules for TV series. This is under the Disc Level Profile section (Emphasis is mine):

Individual profiles for each disc may be submitted if desired, but this is not required. Add these profiles to the box set contents of the parent profile. Create each of these individual profiles in line with the standard Contribution Rules with one exception - Cover Images. If a disc, or set of discs, have their own case, use the cover images from that case. When submitting a change to an existing TV series profile that is currently a box set, do not remove the existing contents.

In either case, the cast and crew are to be entered into the parent profile using appropriate episode dividers.

Absolutely, it is NOT optional to add info to the parent for a TV series, it is optional whether you contribute child profiles.

Absolutely, it is NOT optional to add info to the parent for a TV series, it is optional whether you contribute child profiles.

It's always optional to add info beyond the basic required stuff, but you can't vote no if some one adds it, or remove it.

One user could setup an OAV box with child profiles and that would be ok.
A second user could add the missing info to the parent and that would be ok too.

or

A user could just create a single profile.
The second user can add daughter profiles but they can't remove any info from the current profile.
Tom.
